As the 2020 election approached, we were warned by conservative commentators that, should the Democrats succeed in gaining control of the presidency and the Congress, we would face attacks on our fundamental freedoms. While I fully believed that the Democrats were capable of such a thing, even I thought that some of the warnings were nothing more than election-year hyperbole. I mean, every four years people on both sides tell us, “this is the most important election in our lifetime.” For as long as I can remember, Democrats have been bitching and moaning that, if permitted to do so, Republicans would “turn back the clock.” Though they never spelled it out, what they meant was that Republicans represented a threat to our constitutional rights. I’ve said it before, so I’ll say it again. Whatever Democrats accuse Republicans of doing, it’s a cinch that the Dems are doing the same, and far worse, themselves. Just a couple of months into the sham that is the Biden presidency, I have been forced to conclude that the warnings of the dire consequences that would result from Democratic control were not strong enough. The Bill of Rights was designed to strictly limit the power of the federal government, specifying the particular inalienable rights which were beyond the authority of the Congress to cancel or restrict. Article VI of the Constitution explicitly states that “This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding.” Congress cannot simply enact a law that impinges on the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. And since the President’s job is to enforce and administer the legal enactments of the Congress, it follows that no President may simply take executive action which impinges on our inalienable rights. Even if the Democrats controlled the presidency, and both houses of Congress by overwhelming majorities, they have no right to restrict our constitutional guarantees. Democrats once understood this. In the 74th Congress, in 1936, Democrats and Progressives had 332 seats to 122 Republican. The Senate was 74-22 Democrat-Progessive. Yet, when Franklin Roosevelt launched his plan to pack the Supreme Court with new members to help uphold New Deal legislation, his own Party stopped him. They knew it was wrong, then, and the current Democrat leaders surely know that it’s wrong now. The difference is that, today’s Democrats simply don’t care. They have a corrupt, demented President, who won election in the face of voter irregularities in numerous States. Despite dragging Senile Old Joe over the finish line, the Democrats managed to lose enough House seats, that they now have the slimmest majority in that Chamber since 1893. The Senate is tied 50-50, permitting legislation to pass only by the grace of tie-breaking votes by Cackling Kamala Harris. In a sane world, these circumstances would cry out for government by bi-partisan consensus, a long-lost method that is favored by a large majority of the populace, but Democrats long-ago abandoned sanity. They are determined to complete Il Duce Obama’s “fundamental transformation” of America from the land of the free to a Third World Socialist Idlers Paradise. (It used to be called Socialist Worker’s Paradise, but today no work is required). Biden has become nothing more than a bumbling, stumbling, incoherent rubber stamp for a Far Left that is bent on destroying America as we have known it. This sounds harsh, I know, but there is no other explanation for what they’re doing. It’s called the Cloward and Piven strategy. These two were Professors (what else?) at the Columbia University School of Social Work. Their plan was to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse. They believed that the ruling classes used welfare to weaken the poor, and that by providing a social safety net, the rich doused the fires of rebellion. Cloward said poor people can advance only when “the rest of society is afraid of them.” The plan was for “activists” to work to sabotage and destroy the welfare system. The collapse of the welfare state would ignite a political and financial crisis. Poor people would start a revolution to overthrow capitalism. And here we are, as Democrats push through multi-trillion dollar bills with no Republican support to expand the welfare State. When interest rates rise, as they ultimately must, servicing this added debt will break the system. Admitting millions of illegal aliens to add to the welfare rolls only speeds up the impending crash. Meanwhile, the “activists” of Antifa and Black Lives Matter are in the streets demanding more, but more is never enough. On top of this, Democrats have abandoned energy independence, and are seeking to end the use of cheap, clean fossil fuels. Increased prices for everything add to the strain. Not enough yet? Democrats also are attacking the Bill of Rights. First Amendment free speech and religious freedoms are being denounced as “white supremacy” and “bigotry.” Think you can defend yourself when the revolution comes? Think again. Joe Biden says he will take executive action to restrict Second Amendment rights. Think the Senate Republicans can stop this nonsense with the filibuster? Democrats are trying to end that too. Think Biden and his merry band of Bolsheviks are just “following the science” when they try to impose federal mask and travel restrictions due to the Wuhan virus. I don’t. By all accounts, with the vaccines and virus treatments now available, there is no good reason why the country shouldn’t be totally opened up. This would cause maybe a 10% increase in economic activity, as Americans got back to their lives, went out, and let freedom ring. But that’s the last thing the Leftist whackos want. They prefer Americans at home, afraid, out of work, out of school, and totally beholden to an iron-fisted government Leviathan. I truly wish I was just over-reacting, but I don’t think so. We need to fight back before America is gone forever. To quote the erudite Al Sharpton of all people, “Resist we much!”
