President Trump’s slogan was MAGA, Make America Great Again. He made promises to the American people, and he fulfilled each and every one of them, to the consternation of the Establishment swamp creatures in both Parties. As a result, they determined to rid themselves of the meddlesome upstart who dared to deliver the things they had been promising for decades. He made them look bad. He endangered their phony-baloney jobs, and he threatened their access to continued graft, so he had to go, and he went. Enter Corrupt Demented Imbecile Joe Biden, who has a dilemma. He’s still threatened by Donald Trump, a man he’s indicted four times, and has New York hard at work trying to put out of business. And yet, Biden himself is so unpopular that he needs to run against a weakened Donald Trump. As part of Biden’s campaign of slander, incoherent perhaps, but no less slander, Biden has turned MAGA from a slogan into the Scarlet Letter, identifying anyone thereby marked as “an existential threat to our democracy.” Biden blames “MAGA extremists” for every ill. They’re a handy scapegoat for all the calamities Biden and his keepers have wrought. Don’t like the economy? MAGA. Problems on the border? MAGA. What group poses the greatest threat of domestic terrorism? MAGA. And so it goes. Well, I’ve reached my limit. I’m tired of MAGA, and I’m tired of the senile boob who’s constantly yammering about MAGA. We need a new slogan for 2024. I propose BASTA. In Italian, basta means “enough,” and I definitely have had enough. MAGA is an acronym, and so is BASTA. BASTA stands for, Bring America Sane Thinking Again. It’s fitting because that’s what we need right now. We don’t need a revolution. What America urgently needs is a lucid interval, because clearly, we’ve lost our way. We’ve strayed from from the course of sanity, and we’re indulging our nation, our futures, and our very existence in the world of the insane. Several examples are in order. Let’s consider the border. A nation without a border ceases to be a sovereign nation. Without a means of determining who has entered, neither national security nor economic security may be assured. Moreover, a welfare State with no border is doomed to collapse. Yet though all these risks were well known, we’ve erased our border. We’ve admitted millions of homeless aliens who expect our support, and we’ve supported them, in some cases, by displacing homeless American veterans and senior citizens with aliens. (I say “displace” because I know how much Democrats hate it when you say “replace”). This is illegal, it’s criminal, and it’s downright crazy. What about crime? The refusals of prosecutors to enforce the law have turned cities into Hellscapes. After law school, I clerked for a judge who taught me, “the first duty of government is to protect people in their homes and on the street.” We’ve abrogated that duty. We now tolerate, and in some cases, condone crime. Where the rule of law ends, society ends. No sane nation would pursue this path. We need help. Consider our national debt, now standing at $33 trillion. A story is in order. In 1964, LBJ was trying to get the JFK proposed tax cuts through Congress. Democrats controlled the presidency, House and Senate, but Democrat Senate Finance Committee Chairman Harry Byrd refused to move on the tax bill until LBJ proved to him that the government actually would spend less. The debt was then $312 billion. With the debt now more than 100 times greater than in 1964, no official supports cutting real spending, few favor even slowing the rate of increase, and only a precious few even acknowledge that our finances are unsustainable. One who blithely skips down the road to ruin is dangerously unbalanced, and in need of help. Then there’s our energy policy. Our leaders promised us energy independence for more than 40 years. President Trump achieved that goal. With $40 to $50 dollar a barrel oil, prices were low, and America became an energy exporter. On top of that, even after we quit participating in the Paris CO2 Accords, the U.S. met the Accord goals 5 years early, the only nation to do so. But not good enough for the current Administration. Biden ran on a pledge to destroy our oil and gas industries, he cancelled leases and pipelines, appointed Energy and Interior Secretaries who pledge to “leave oil and gas in the ground,” and depleted most of our strategic petroleum reserve. The result has been artificially high energy prices, crippling inflation, and one thing most people leave out, war and threat of war all over the globe. People like to say, “Russia wouldn’t have invaded Ukraine if Trump was president.” They’re right, but for the wrong reason. With oil at $50, Russia couldn’t afford a war with anybody. By raising oil prices, Biden made the war possible. Now, we’re on a path that no sane nation would follow. U.S. policies made it possible for Russia to invade Ukraine. China is supporting Russia in that war. Meanwhile, we’re selling our oil reserves to China, while borrowing money from China, so we can turn around and give it to Ukraine, so they can fight Russia. We started the war and are funding both sides. The only word for this is “crazy.” We’ve lost our minds. And it’s not just Ukraine. Trump sanctioned Iran. Biden refused to enforce the sanctions, and Iran, the chief financier of terrorism in the world, was permitted to sell oil, now worth some $60 billion. Iran finances Hamas, and now Israel, and perhaps the entire Middle East is on the brink of war. And why have we embarked on such a ruinous energy policy? Because Biden and Company want to mandate electric vehicles. Put aside for now the nagging question, “Where in the Constitution does it give the government the right to dictate what vehicles we drive, and what light bulbs we can buy? The fact is few people want or can afford electric vehicles. I know this because I can’t think of another product that the government will give me $7500 to convince me to buy. And if that’s not crazy enough, the government insists on the mandate, despite the facts that we lack the infrastructure to charge the vehicles, and the electric grid can’t generate the energy necessary to charge them anyway if it’s running on wind, solar and pond scum. In summary, our nation’s present condition can only be described as the product of insane delusions. It’s high time we told our leaders BASTA. Enough already! Enough reckless spending, enough open borders, and enough of paying attention to imbecilic Woke protesters. We’ve run off the rails, and we’re beyond petty politics. We must support candidates who will restore America to sanity.
