The aftermath of the Derek Chauvin trial, got me to thinking about the old Adventures of Superman TV show. Superman, you will recall, was a newspaper reporter, until he ducked into a phone booth (I wonder where he would have to duck nowadays) and emerged as the Man of Steel. In each episode, the announcer intoned, “Superman, who can change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in his bare hands, and who disguised as Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper, fights a never-ending battle for Truth, Justice and the American Way.” You might well ask, “What does the Superman show have to do with events surrounding the Chauvin trial?” Well, it occurred to me that Superman’s being a news reporter was important. If the American way is the rule of law, there can be no justice without truth. Superman reflected a reality that, sadly, no longer exists. We once had crusading journalists who exposed crime and corruption. They literally spoke truth to power by discomfiting the comfortable. Think of newspaperman Dutton Peabody in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, “I’m a newspaperman, not a politician! No, politicians are my meat – I build ’em up and I tear ’em down but I wouldn’t be one, I couldn’t be one – it’d destroy me.” And that’s the way it used to be. Remember when 60 Minutes chased crooks and liars around with cameras to expose them? Now they’re just the mouthpieces of the Left. In short, they’re politicians, and Dutton Peabody was right, it has destroyed them. Instead of speaking truth to power, they’re feeding lies to an ignorant public. I say ignorant, not to insult the public, it’s not their fault. The public must be educated and informed by schools and the media. The public is ill served by schools that indoctrinate instead of educate, and by a media that suppresses information, rather than disseminating it. That’s not just rhetoric, witness the words of NBC’s Lester Holt, “I think it’s become clear that fairness is overrated. … The idea that we should always give two sides equal weight and merit does not reflect the world we find ourselves in.” Holt was given the Edward R. Murrow Award. That spinning sound you hear is coming from Ed Murrow’s grave. As this is written, NBC has altered video of a shooting in Ohio to make it appear the police officer was at fault, fanning the flames of the systemic racism fantasy. Meanwhile, real journalists like Andy Ngo and James O’Keefe of Project Veritas are denounced as extremists, silenced, and de-platformed on social media. I rest my case. Journalism, Rest in Peace. But let’s get back to the Chauvin trial. My complaints don’t extend to the verdict. That Chauvin was convicted of homicide was just. I thought it should be manslaughter, and I have serious concerns about how Minnesota got to second degree murder, but forgive me, picking apart convictions is what I do for a living. Without getting too deep into the legal weeds, second degree murder is an unintentional killing while committing a felony. The underlying felony was an assault on George Floyd. The notion that an assault that ends with a death forms the basis for felony murder is what’s known in the law as “bootstrapping.” The New Jersey statute wouldn’t permit that, but Minnesota isn’t New Jersey, and I’m not a Minnesota lawyer, so who knows. The bottom line is that, while the police had every right to arrest George Floyd, who was high on drugs and passing counterfeit currency, they had no reason to kill him. So the Chauvin guilty verdict is just. What’s troubling is the atmosphere created by Democrats and the media before and after the verdict. These are people who support defunding the police, and celebrate a system of “justice” in which armed robbers are released without bail, while unarmed Capitol trespassers remain incarcerated. They want police officers fired and prosecuted for doing their jobs, yet they excuse months of arson, looting and violence as “peaceful protest.” Before the Chauvin verdict, alleged comedian Chelsea Handler (Who?) wondered why a trial was necessary when we had a video of the crime being committed. The concept of due process clearly eludes this dolt. But it’s not just mindless performers. In the wake of the Brooklyn Center, Minnesota shooting, the city manager was fired for daring to suggest that the police officer involved should be given due process of law. This is sick, and dangerous. Consider words attributed to Thomas More, “I’d give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety’s sake.” Good advice. “Protesters” craving “justice” will find precious little of it absent due process. Then there was Maxine Waters. She impeached Trump for telling supporters to peacefully protest, she preaches defunding the police, and she demands that U.S. taxpayers pay for her police protection. She went to Minnesota to pour gasoline on a riot, saying, if the Chauvin verdict “goes the wrong way, we’ve got to stay in the streets and fight for justice.” Maxine threatened the jurors and the entire legal system, prompting the trial judge to warn that she handed Chauvin an appellate issue. Segue to post-verdict comments. Senile Speaker of the House Pelosi thanked George Floyd for “sacrificing your life for justice,” and said “your name will always be synonymous with justice.” Here’s where some truth might have helped, perhaps to point out that Floyd’s previous relationship with justice included only convictions for selling drugs, theft and armed home invasion. He shouldn’t be dead, but this was hardly the murder of Gandhi. Message to Nancy, the 343 firemen and 71 policemen killed on 9/11 gave their lives, Floyd’s was taken. Even liberals denounced Pelosi, and a Maryland politician called for a black Speaker. So much for pandering. As Winston Churchill said, “An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.” Last, and certainly least, comes Corrupt Demented Imbecile Joe Biden, who’s been in “the System” for 50 years, and said the verdict, “can be a giant step forward” for the nation in the fight against systemic racism. Brain damage. Biden told Floyd’s daughter her “daddy did change the world.” It’s a pity he never cared enough to change himself. 45 cops have been shot and 11 killed since January. Biden never called their children. A Louisiana cop was killed last week, after telling a man he had to wear a mask at a basketball game. The man shot him. Another Covid death. Biden didn’t call his family. The point is that there will never be justice until the media and elected officials decide to tell the truth. Providing the unvarnished truth to the public prevents violence, and protects lives and property. The media should tell the truth, and officials have a duty to do so. They might start by telling the “protestors” chanting “all three counts,” that Chauvin can get only one sentence, not three, for killing Floyd. That’s the law. Simply put, without truth there is no justice and no American way, or any other way.
Any devotee of Frank on Friday knows that what bugs me most of all is the blatant hypocrisy of the Left. So-called progressives display a stunning ability to denounce the actions and positions of conservatives, while they, themselves do things, and espouse positions that they would roundly condemn, if they came from a conservative. In the past week, The Wall Street Journal published columns by Daniel Henninger and Anastasia O’Grady that examined the decision by Major League Baseball (MLB) to move its All-Star Game from Atlanta to Denver, as a result of the enactment of voting reforms by the Georgia Legislature. Last week’s F on F, explored the Georgia law, which even The Washington Post admits, expands the ability to vote, rather than restricting it. The Leftist, Woke mob, having decided that it can’t win in Georgia unless it cheats, denounced the Georgia law as racist. The magpies of the media dutifully repeated the lies, and corporate castrati, that is, companies that fear social media calls for boycotts, jumped in to punish Georgia. I say “social media calls” because these boycott campaigns typically are launched, not by mass public opinion, but by a handful of internet trolls who create “bots” that make it appear that complaints are coming from thousands of people, instead of from 12 lazy slobs living in their parents’ basements. When Corrupt Demented Imbecile Joe Biden was asked whether MLB should move the All-Star Game, he said, “I would strongly support them doing that.” MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred obliged, moving the game to Denver. Manfred said he had to do it, because MLB has to uphold “values.” Manfred didn’t elaborate, but it’s safe to assume that by “values” he meant the right to vote for the candidate of your choice, or perhaps, just good, old-fashioned Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet, American notions of decency and fair play. But, as Henninger and O’Grady noted, Manfred’s sanctimonious “values” motivation doesn’t pass the smell test. Due to his “values,” Manfred abandoned Atlanta over a law that gives Georgians more opportunity for early voting than voters get in New York or Colorado, and Manfred finds nothing wrong with doing business with communist Cuba. It’s all about values, you see. MLB values money, and fears criticism. Greed and fear are a bad combination when constitutional rights, and even human rights, are at stake. The fight over the Georgia law is political, not humanitarian. The Democrat goal in calling everything racist is to get HR 1 passed, which would nationalize elections. If Rob Manfred was concerned about American values, he would be opposed to HR 1, as it violates the text of the Constitution and the 10th Amendment. Powers not delegated to the federal government or prohibited to it are reserved to the States. The Constitution does not delegate authority to control elections to the federal government, it explicitly prohibits that, and reserves that power to the States. But Manfred has a peculiar set of values, as he can denounce a law which was the valid enactment of a State legislature elected by the people of Georgia, while at the same time, pursuing an agreement with Raul Castro to permit Cuban ballplayers to play for MLB, and have their salaries paid, not to them or their families, but instead to the murdering communist bastards who control Cuba, a country where there are no elections, and gross violations of human rights are routine. So much for Manfred’s “values” bullcrap. President Trump cancelled Manfred’s plan to enrich Castro’s Cuba, but don’t expect Biden to stand in the way. Democrats have a history of placating Cuban dictators in the name of baseball.
It must be pretty bad, because Daniel Henninger said something I never heard him say before, “Trump is right. Boycott baseball, and all other Woke corporations.” Henninger wants to boycott to save progressives from themselves. I say, “Screw ’em.” We’re better off without them. Henninger did make an apt comparison though. He said Manfred’s Atlanta boycott has finished the burning of that city begun by General Sherman in 1864, by taking $100 million from Atlanta. This fact has not been lost on the chief arsonist of Georgia, Stacy Abrams. She stirred the pot to encourage boycotts, but now has had second thoughts. Abrams broke with Biden, begging, “To our friends, please do not boycott us.” “Leaving us behind with boycotts won’t save us.” Democrat Senator Ossoff also backed off, “I absolutely oppose and reject any notion of boycotting Georgia. Georgia welcomes business, investment, jobs, opportunity, and events.” Temporary Democrat Senator for two years, Warnock, stayed on the fence, calling on businesses, athletes, and entertainers to protest the law not by leaving Georgia. Georgia Democrats, now lamenting the lost revenue, are blaming Joe Biden, but it turns out, it’s not his fault. Biden’s Chief Gibberish Translator, Jen Psaki, explained that Old Joe can’t be blamed for saying, he would strongly support the MLB move because, “He was answering a direct question during an interview.” She’s right. We certainly can’t expect Biden to truthfully answer a direct question. The bottom line is the MLB decision to move the All-Star Game pleases no one. The move hurts the very Georgians the Left claims are affected by the election law, and it puts a stake in the heart of the Atlanta economy, at a time when economic activity is essential. Rob Manfred has accomplished just two things. He moved the game from a Park named for a bank, to a Park named for a beer. And he deprived countless poor Atlanta area workers of much needed income. The result? Instead of Atlanta fans being served chicken and waffles by African-American concession workers, Denver fans now will be served gluten free quesadillas by mindless hippies smelling of cannabis. (Trust me, I’ve been there). The actions of Major League Baseball have left a bad taste in the mouths of many baseball fans. Between the Manfred mess and the Wuhan restrictions, many fans will protest by skipping MLB games, so I propose a new song for the seventh inning stretch.
Don’t take me out to the ball game,
Don’t make me sit in a crowd;
Buy me a mask and a Covid test,
Require vaccines for ev-er-y guest.
You may root, root, root for the home team,
If their opinion’s the same.
Or it’s move, strike, boycott, you’re out,
At the old ball game.
The one thing that totalitarian dictators hate most is any opposition to their iron-fisted decrees. The Democrats who run the nearly evenly divided Congress, in league with Corrupt Demented Imbecile Joe Biden, and his Administration’s Commie Cabal, currently are up in arms over Georgia’s amendment of its election laws. The Dems hate the Georgia law because it conflicts with their proposed H.R. 1 legislation, which is intended to unconstitutionally repeal Article I, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution, which provides that the various State legislatures shall decide the manner in which they hold elections. H.R. 1 would illegally repeal any State law that is in conflict with its attempt to do away with any semblance of ballot security, thus permitting unregistered voters, unqualified voters, convicted voters, and non-citizen voters to decide which Democrat candidate they prefer. H.R. 1 strikes down all voter I.D. laws, so that’s why the Georgia law, which dares to require a vote-by-mail voter to actually prove he or she is at least 18, is a U.S. and Georgia citizen, and is registered, has caused such a stir. The Georgia amendments come in the wake of elections which were tainted by the specter of massive fraud. Democrats responded to the valid act of the Georgia Legislature in the same way they respond to everything they don’t like, they lied about it. Believe it or not, the 2021 amendments do not impose a new requirement of voter I.D. in Georgia. Georgia has required voter I.D. for in- person voting for years. After the enactment of this I.D. requirement, the number of African-American voters increased. In fact, in 2008 and 2012, the percentage of eligible black voters who voted actually was higher than the percentage of eligible white voters who cast votes. That percentage decreased in 2016, not due to white supremacy or voter suppression, as claimed by Stacy Abrams, but simply because Il Duce Barack Obama was not on the ballot. Contrary to Democrat opinion, black voters are neither ignorant nor shy. They know how to come out and vote when they see a candidate they like. The new Georgia law simply extended the existing voter I.D. requirement to mail ballots, and that’s the problem for Democrats. They don’t want voters to have to come out to vote or request a ballot. They’d prefer to print tens of thousands of spurious mail ballots, to be counted as needed, once the in-person vote is disclosed. They agree with something a Jersey City Democrat once told me, “Our voters vote, whether they come out or not.” So Biden and Co. continue to lie about the Georgia law. Don’t take my word for it. That’s the verdict of The Washington Post, which gave Biden “Four Pinnochios” for his lies about the law. The Post concluded that the law did make some changes to early voting, but that the net effect was to expand the opportunities to vote for most Georgians, not limit them. Shocking, huh? Biden calls the law “sick” and “un-American,” claiming it “ends voting hours early.” That’s a lie. The law did not reduce voting hours, and early voting was expanded, not restricted. Biden’s claim that Georgia banned food and water near polling places is also a lie. The law actually works to reduce voting lines, to prevent voters from having to stand in line for hours. And it permits election workers, but not candidates, to provide food and water. But since journalism is dead, Biden’s lies were effective, again proving Mark Twain’s observation that, “A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.” Biden appeared at the NCAA championship game in Indiana, where he called Georgia’s law “Jim Crow 2.0,” while praising Indiana, which I guess he forgot was the first State to require photo ID for voters. No matter. When lying Stacy Abrams cried “racism,” cowardly Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, and other castrated corporations demanded Georgia boycotts. Major League Baseball folded immediately, and moved the All-Star Game from heavily black Atlanta to 91% white Denver. The fact that Georgia’s new law guarantees more early voting than does Colorado’s didn’t matter. It’s “Jim Crow 2.0,” so sayeth imbecile Joe. The result? Minority workers and businesses in Atlanta will lose hundreds of millions of dollars, and Atlanta will not be permitted to honor Hank Aaron, as it intended. Imbecile Joe should know all about Jim Crow 2.0, because it was his Party that enacted the so-called “Jim Crow” laws after the Civil War; laws intended to separate the races, to disenfranchise black people, and even to strip them of State citizenship. Progressive Republicans tried to reduce Jim Crow 1.0 segregation, but racist Democrat Woodrow Wilson reimposed segregation in the federal bureaucracy, writing that Reconstruction placed southern white men under “the intolerable burden of governments sustained by the votes of ignorant negroes.” When civil rights activists W.E.B. Du Bois and William Monroe Trotter objected, Wilson threw them out of the Oval Office in 1914, telling them, “Segregation is not humiliating, but a benefit, and ought to be so regarded by you gentlemen.” Too long ago to blame today’s Democrats? Not so fast. Members of Biden’s Party tried to defy the 1957 Civil Rights Act, causing Republican Dwight Eisenhower to send 1,000 101st Airborne Division troops to Arkansas to force Arkansas Democrats to let black children attend white schools. Biden has called the filibuster, “a remnant of Jim Crow.” But it was Biden’s Democrat buddies who used the filibuster to try to stop the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. As Wall Street Journal columnist Jason Riley writes in his column, Upward Mobility, “By constantly invoking the ghost of Jim Crow, Democrats treat black voters like they were helpless children.” I hate to dwell on the truth in this day and age, but the inconvenient truth is that some 77% of voters, Republican and Democrat alike, are in favor of voter identification requirements, which makes you wonder why the only people who oppose such requirements are elected Democrats, and the far-Left, Woke, Whacko groups who are permitted to run amok by elected Democrats. Jim Crow lies are bad enough, but what should really make you uncomfortable is that Democrats have endorsed the position of Josef Stalin, who said of voting, “The people who cast the votes don’t decide an election, the people who count the votes do.” We found out he was right last November.
As the 2020 election approached, we were warned by conservative commentators that, should the Democrats succeed in gaining control of the presidency and the Congress, we would face attacks on our fundamental freedoms. While I fully believed that the Democrats were capable of such a thing, even I thought that some of the warnings were nothing more than election-year hyperbole. I mean, every four years people on both sides tell us, “this is the most important election in our lifetime.” For as long as I can remember, Democrats have been bitching and moaning that, if permitted to do so, Republicans would “turn back the clock.” Though they never spelled it out, what they meant was that Republicans represented a threat to our constitutional rights. I’ve said it before, so I’ll say it again. Whatever Democrats accuse Republicans of doing, it’s a cinch that the Dems are doing the same, and far worse, themselves. Just a couple of months into the sham that is the Biden presidency, I have been forced to conclude that the warnings of the dire consequences that would result from Democratic control were not strong enough. The Bill of Rights was designed to strictly limit the power of the federal government, specifying the particular inalienable rights which were beyond the authority of the Congress to cancel or restrict. Article VI of the Constitution explicitly states that “This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding.” Congress cannot simply enact a law that impinges on the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. And since the President’s job is to enforce and administer the legal enactments of the Congress, it follows that no President may simply take executive action which impinges on our inalienable rights. Even if the Democrats controlled the presidency, and both houses of Congress by overwhelming majorities, they have no right to restrict our constitutional guarantees. Democrats once understood this. In the 74th Congress, in 1936, Democrats and Progressives had 332 seats to 122 Republican. The Senate was 74-22 Democrat-Progessive. Yet, when Franklin Roosevelt launched his plan to pack the Supreme Court with new members to help uphold New Deal legislation, his own Party stopped him. They knew it was wrong, then, and the current Democrat leaders surely know that it’s wrong now. The difference is that, today’s Democrats simply don’t care. They have a corrupt, demented President, who won election in the face of voter irregularities in numerous States. Despite dragging Senile Old Joe over the finish line, the Democrats managed to lose enough House seats, that they now have the slimmest majority in that Chamber since 1893. The Senate is tied 50-50, permitting legislation to pass only by the grace of tie-breaking votes by Cackling Kamala Harris. In a sane world, these circumstances would cry out for government by bi-partisan consensus, a long-lost method that is favored by a large majority of the populace, but Democrats long-ago abandoned sanity. They are determined to complete Il Duce Obama’s “fundamental transformation” of America from the land of the free to a Third World Socialist Idlers Paradise. (It used to be called Socialist Worker’s Paradise, but today no work is required). Biden has become nothing more than a bumbling, stumbling, incoherent rubber stamp for a Far Left that is bent on destroying America as we have known it. This sounds harsh, I know, but there is no other explanation for what they’re doing. It’s called the Cloward and Piven strategy. These two were Professors (what else?) at the Columbia University School of Social Work. Their plan was to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse. They believed that the ruling classes used welfare to weaken the poor, and that by providing a social safety net, the rich doused the fires of rebellion. Cloward said poor people can advance only when “the rest of society is afraid of them.” The plan was for “activists” to work to sabotage and destroy the welfare system. The collapse of the welfare state would ignite a political and financial crisis. Poor people would start a revolution to overthrow capitalism. And here we are, as Democrats push through multi-trillion dollar bills with no Republican support to expand the welfare State. When interest rates rise, as they ultimately must, servicing this added debt will break the system. Admitting millions of illegal aliens to add to the welfare rolls only speeds up the impending crash. Meanwhile, the “activists” of Antifa and Black Lives Matter are in the streets demanding more, but more is never enough. On top of this, Democrats have abandoned energy independence, and are seeking to end the use of cheap, clean fossil fuels. Increased prices for everything add to the strain. Not enough yet? Democrats also are attacking the Bill of Rights. First Amendment free speech and religious freedoms are being denounced as “white supremacy” and “bigotry.” Think you can defend yourself when the revolution comes? Think again. Joe Biden says he will take executive action to restrict Second Amendment rights. Think the Senate Republicans can stop this nonsense with the filibuster? Democrats are trying to end that too. Think Biden and his merry band of Bolsheviks are just “following the science” when they try to impose federal mask and travel restrictions due to the Wuhan virus. I don’t. By all accounts, with the vaccines and virus treatments now available, there is no good reason why the country shouldn’t be totally opened up. This would cause maybe a 10% increase in economic activity, as Americans got back to their lives, went out, and let freedom ring. But that’s the last thing the Leftist whackos want. They prefer Americans at home, afraid, out of work, out of school, and totally beholden to an iron-fisted government Leviathan. I truly wish I was just over-reacting, but I don’t think so. We need to fight back before America is gone forever. To quote the erudite Al Sharpton of all people, “Resist we much!”
FRANK ON FRIDAY – Covidiocy
If some of you have had doubts about whether the Government has any idea what it’s doing generally, and specifically about what it’s doing to us, let me set your minds at ease. I worked for the Government for many years, and, as a lawyer, I’m forced to jump through a number of Government hoops simply to be permitted to work for a living. Understand, I’m a single practitioner. I work alone, no other lawyers, and no staff. Despite that, because I do work for the Public Defender, I have to fill out five pages of forms, and pay a $150 fee, so that I can report to a NJ agency the gender, race and ethnicity of all employees I hired or fired in the past seven years. Ah, zero. Also, periodically, I must swear that I am not doing business in Northern Ireland or Iran. I’m not. The Government pays people your money to compile this information. And sadly, these people are among the most useful employees on the payroll. So, rest easy, I can state categorically that the Government is incapable of finding its own ass, using both hands, even if you spot them the left cheek. But, you may protest, that can’t be true for Government scientists. Surely, highly trained doctors must know what they’re talking about, even if they work for the Government. I’m afraid not. The Wuhan, or Covid pandemic, if you will, has proven that the professionals running the CDC are either inept, or they’re just as corrupt as the rest of the Government. Remember the rationale for the Covid lockdowns, distancing and masking requirements? 15 days to curb the spread, then 30 days, then months, and now more than a year. We complied. Then it was, wait for the vaccine. We thought that was crazy, but we complied. Now, more than 143 million Americans have been vaccinated. Among the unvaccinated, it’s estimated that half of those have already had the virus, making them immune. Daily new cases are down more than 80% and deaths are down nearly 90%, so it must be time to loosen up the restrictions, right? Well, yes and no. Take masks, for example. What a difference a year makes. Pre-Wuhan, when you went in a bank, you were required to remove any face coverings, even sunglasses, or no admittance. Now, you can’t get in without a face covering. But it’s “the science,” right? Afraid not. There’s no science supporting universal masking. Dr. Jim Meehan, a surgeon and editor of a medical journal says the premise that surgeons wearing masks proves that “masks must work to prevent viral transmission” is false. Surgical and cloth masks do nothing to prevent viral transmission. He’s right, even N-95 masks admit particles 10 times larger than the Wuhan virus. So the Jesse James, “this is a stickup” bandanas are just a cruel joke. Back to the CDC. On April 1, CDC Director Walensky announced, “Vaccinated people do not carry the virus, they don’t get sick. That’s not just in the clinical trials, but it’s also in real-world data.” The researchers determined that if you aren’t infected with the virus and are vaccinated, you can’t spread it to others who have not been vaccinated. So we can lose the useless masks, right? Not so fast. Other scientists objected, “If Dr. Walensky had said most vaccinated people do not carry virus, we would not be having this discussion.” It’s true. There have been cases of vaccinated people contracting the Wuhan, but just how many? Self magazine, on April 15th, reported, “Out of more than 76 million people in the U.S. who are fully vaccinated, about 5,800 people have gotten COVID-19, which is less than 1%.” Also true, but “less than 1%” is a bit misleading. It actually amounts to 0.0076%, or 1 in about every 1,320 vaccinated people. Ever win a bet that paid 1,300 to 1? Last year, if the odds of contracting the Wuhan were 1,300 to 1, would there have been any restrictions? No. Indeed, there wouldn’t have been a pandemic, the economy wouldn’t have been shut down, Donald Trump would still be President, and we wouldn’t be having this discussion. But the CDC did what it has been doing throughout this crisis, it panicked and back-pedaled. Announcing “new guidance” as though she was Lincoln again freeing the slaves, Dr. Walensky generously granted the fully vaccinated permission to attend small, outdoor gatherings with people, or dine at an outdoor restaurant without a mask. But indoors, even the fully vaccinated must wear the useless masks. On Thursday, the CDC granted permission for cruises to resume from the U.S., with everyone on board vaccinated. The announcement included this idiocy, “We acknowledge that cruising will never be a zero-risk activity.” No shit! Breathing isn’t a zero risk activity, you dolt! Anyhow, the vaccinated can’t get or transmit the virus, and the CDC’s own research proves there’s no credible threat, even to the unvaccinated, but wear a mask anyway. Why? I can’t think of a good reason to continue a practice that serves merely to give a false sense of security to the hysterical among us. It’s merely theater, witness the idiotic Biden speech to Congressmen, all vaccinated, all 6 feet apart, and all masked. It’s patriotic? Bull crap. As Samuel Johnson noted, “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.” Sadly, scoundrels are perpetuating this farce. The New York Post recently published an opinion piece by three college professors who actually make sense. Wuhan restrictions have ceased to be about public health, and have become a cult. This new religion has several commandments. I – Thou shalt stay forever locked down. II – Thou shalt wear a mask. III – The children shalt suffer most. The fanatics have stolen more than a year of life and education from the most vulnerable among us. There was no good reason to close schools, and kids are 10-times more likely to die of suicide than COVID-19. The truth is that the scientific zealots, aided and abetted by the totalitarian politicians who seek to control us as subjects, rather than treat as the American citizens we’re supposed to be, have from Day One mismanaged this crisis. And since they now admit even they know the dangers which spawned the draconian restrictions no longer exist, and yet demand we continue them, this goes beyond ineptitude, and must be considered corruption. As the Post professors wrote, although none of us chose to join this cult, we are “now called upon to participate in its bizarre, cruel, and never-ending liturgies.” I say its time to go all Martin Luther on these bastards. Let’s nail our masks to the Statehouse doors. We won’t need 95 Theses, just one. “We reject your religion and we’re going back to our lives.” To paraphrase, Thomas Jefferson, “A little heresy every now and then is a good thing.”
