FRANK ON FRIDAY – Trump 2 Democrats 0

Last week, the Senate ended the second phony impeachment “trial” of Donald Trump, once again failing to convict.  In large part, this is because, in order to gain a conviction for an impeachable offense, the House must first present actual evidence that an offense has been committed.  Ordinarily, the House would actually investigate the case,  gather evidence, and hear from witnesses who might have evidence proving the charge.  The House didn’t do any of those things.  Then, once properly charged, the case would go to the Senate, to be tried.  We’ve been bombarded with stories about the impeachment “trial” and the prospect of “conviction” in the Senate.  You’ll note that I put those words in quotations.  We refer to the concepts of “trial” and “conviction” in impeachment cases only because the Constitution provides in Article I that the Senate has the sole power to “try” all impeachments, and includes the word “conviction” in Article II.  The problem is that media reports either ignorantly or intentionally give the impression that an impeachment trial is just like any other trial for a criminal offense.  It isn’t.  The Constitution says the Senate shall “try” all impeachments, but  that doesn’t mean that what the Senate does will be a “trial.”  In a real trial, even on TV, the accused is provided with a number of fundamental guarantees, chief among them the right to due process.  Due process guarantees an accused a right to present exculpatory evidence before a charge is made, and further guarantees that a charge may be brought only after proper procedural steps have been satisfied.  If charged, an accused would be provided with the evidence against him so he could confront his accusers, and would be afforded ample time to prepare a defense.  And if the case went to trial, the trial process would be conducted in such a way as to ensure that the accused got a fair hearing.  It’s the responsibility of the judge to exclude from the trial evidence that is unreliable, and to keep off the jury anyone who displays bias, interest or prejudice to the accused or to the issues to be tried.  When all those things happen, the resulting proceeding is a “trial.”  Since Donald Trump got none of those safeguards, what the Senate did was not a “trial.”  What it was is bad political theater.  The House decided to impeach, and voted an Article of Impeachment the next day.  It conducted no hearings, heard from no witnesses and relied for “evidence” on television and newspaper reports, and social media posts.  Putting aside the material fact that Trump had already left office, the charge went to the Senate for immediate an “trial,” which isn’t really a “trial.”  An impeachment trial is a political exercise intended to prevent a miscreant from serving in office.  When the alleged miscreant is no longer in office, then there’s no jurisdiction for impeachment.  Democrats didn’t care.  The point was that, Joe Biden is boring, he does nothing that the media wants to tell the public about, and they need Donald Trump as their boogeyman and punching bag because they have no real ideas.  This was a television event, so much so, that it could have fit into the format of any cop show on TV.  Ever watch Blue Bloods?  Danny Reagan arrests the perp for murder, they go to commercial, the day after the arrest, Erin Reagan starts the trial.  And now a few scenes from next week’s show.  That was Impeachment, Part II.  No investigation.  No disclosure of evidence.  No preparation of a  defense.  No confrontation of accusers.  Just a “trial.” And what a “trial.”  The Constitution requires the Chief Justice to preside when a president is tried.  Chief Justice Roberts refused because the accused was no longer president.  No problem.  The Senate, now in the hands of the detestable Chuck Schumer, provided a substitute, Senator Patrick Leahy.  Don’t you just love a fair “trial?”  This went beyond anything even Franz Kafka could have imagined.  The charge against Trump was inciting an insurrection at the Capitol on January 6th.  So, 99 of the Senators were witnesses, victims, and jurors, and Senator Leahy was a witness, victim, juror, and the judge.  That streamlines the process.  All of them, from both Parties, were biased, had an interest in the outcome, and had exhibited prejudice.  Unindicted felon Hillary Clinton kind of admitted as much.  “If Senate Republicans fail to convict Donald Trump, it won’t be because the facts were with him or his lawyers mounted a competent defense.  It will be because the jury includes his co-conspirators.” Judge/Witness/Victim/Juror Leahy had said Trump “will be remembered in history as a disaster to our Constitution, one who has tried to subvert our laws and government, a person who has lied constantly.”  That’s not the detached magistrate envisioned by the Founders.  Elizabeth Warren went into the “trial” believing Trump guilty, and vowed that any Republican who supported him “must be stopped.”  Juror Schumer strangely observed, “There will be a trial and when the trial ends, Senators will have to decide if they believe Donald John Trump incited the erection.”  Apparently he was channeling Anthony Wiener.  Alleged moderate Joe Manchin said he’d permit Trump to defend himself, but declared, “There’s no doubt I think the evidence is overwhelming.”  And what evidence?  News reports and Tweets, some of which the Democrats had to admit they altered and falsified.  Although the defense played clips of Democrats, including Warren, Waters, Sanders and Kamala Harris telling supporters to “fight,” the main claim was that by using the word “fight,” Trump incited insurrection.  What next?  Will they impeach the Beastie Boys for singing, “You gotta fight, for your right, to party?”  It got so bad that Democrats tried to cure their lack of evidence by suggesting that Trump’s refusal to testify proved him guilty.  Fifth Amendment?  What Fifth Amendment?  The “trial” was a sick joke, reminiscent of Benet’s The Devil and Daniel Webster, where the Devil presides over a trial in which the jury is “a jury of the damned,” thieves and cut-throats all.  The “trial” ended not with a bang, but a whimper.  Democrats voted to hear witnesses, and then called none, because they were told the President’s first two witnesses would be Nancy Pelosi and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, who would be questioned about their failures to heed warnings about the January 6th protest, and their refusals to accept Trump’s offer of 10,000 National Guardsmen to protect the Capitol.  That’s how stupid it was.  What insurrectionist sends his minions into battle after first arranging to have 10,000 armed troops on hand to stop them?  In the end, the truth prevailed, but as James Garfield once observed, “The truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable.”

FRANK ON FRIDAY – Impeaching the Truth

The first impeachment of Donald Trump was absurd, but that time at least he was president and subject to impeachment.  This time he’s not, and he’s not.  Impeachment has two purposes; to remove the subject of the exercise, and prevent the subject from ever returning.  As noted, Donald Trump isn’t in office, so he’s not subject to impeachment.  This minor impediment is lost on Democrats.  They’ve embarked upon an impeachment – of the truth.  I say Democrats, but I mean the political Establishment, which resides in both Parties.  In its zeal to consolidate its power, destroy all opposition, and ensure perpetual control of the government, the Establishment seeks to remove the truth and guarantee that it will never return to endanger its absolute hegemony.  There was a time, not so very long ago, when I would have said it wasn’t possible to impeach the truth.  There were guardrails.  The Founders gave us checks and balances.  The different branches would work to make sure one didn’t usurp the authority of another.  The guardrails are gone.  The Executive signs decrees that usurp the Legislative branch.  The Legislative branch threatens the Executive.  The Judiciary says, just leave us out of this.  And the administrative State, an entity never imagined by the Founders, lurks in the background constantly gnawing away at our liberties.  The States were supposed to be ultimate check and balance.   The Leviathan of the Establishment began chipping away at the States more than 100 years ago.  Having created the federal government, the States were supposed to exercise control over it through the Senate, whose members were selected by the State legislatures.  The 17th Amendment changed all that.  Popular election of Senators was sold as a means of checking the power of Party bosses.  Instead it simply turned the Senate into nothing more than a superfluous, super House of Representatives, peopled by the rich.  As a result, governments have no interest in protecting the truth.  Formerly, the media was always there to keep government (mostly) honest.  H.L. Mencken typified the way the media used to view government.  “The government I live under has been my enemy all my active life.  When it has not been engaged in silencing me it has been engaged in robbing me.  So far as I can recall I have never had any contact with it that was not an outrage on my dignity and an attack on my security.”  Thus, the media protected the truth, at least for its own sake.  Now they’re just cheerleaders for the despots of their choice.  When all else failed we always had the people.  They were smart,  knew the truth, and when lied to, could blow the whistle on the lying politicians.  But that’s gone too.  The truth has been impeached.  Truth is no longer what really happened.  It’s become what our government, media and online masters tell us really happened.  And don’t you dare disagree, or they’ll cancel you.  Trump’s being impeached for daring to suggest there was a secret plan to prevent him from being reelected.  These are the outrageous ravings of an autocrat, out to destroy democracy, right?  Not so fast.  Time magazine has spilled the beans.  In its story, The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election, Time exposed what it calls “the conspiracy to save the 2020 election.”  “The story of an unprecedented, creative and determined campaign whose success also reveals how close the nation came to disaster.”  Time exposed a well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information.  Not to rig the election, of course, but to fortify it.  On December 2nd, Trump complained of “an orchestrated effort to anoint the winner, even while many key states were still being counted.”  Amazingly, Time admits, “In a way, Trump was right.”  There was a conspiracy behind the scenes, an informal alliance between left-wing activists and business titans, inspired by the summer’s massive, destructive racial-justice protests,  which the labor unions and industrialists somehow saw as a way to oppose what they perceived as Trump’s “assault on democracy.” Time calls it a vast, cross-partisan campaign to protect the election–an extraordinary shadow effort dedicated to ensuring a fair vote.  The conspirators got States to change voting systems and laws (illegally) with the help of hundreds of millions in public and private funding.  “They successfully pressured social media companies to take a harder line against disinformation and used data-driven strategies to fight viral smears.” Translation – They cancelled our First Amendment right to free speech.  For our own good, of course.  They had no choice, because Trump dared to file election lawsuits.  Obama Administration lawyer Norm Eisen told Time, “The untold story of the election is the thousands of people of both parties who accomplished the triumph of American democracy at its very foundation.”  You get the mindset?  The Left are saviors for changing State election procedures in violation of the Constitution.  Meanwhile, Trump is an autocrat and a tyrant for taking his cases to courts.  The Left are “democracy defenders,”who once again will save democracy by destroying the Constitution.  Again, they had no choice.  They couldn’t get a fair election under the Constitution and State laws, and it’s all Trump’s fault.  The impeached truth is that no president controls State elections. That was the beauty of the system, but they couldn’t win under the law, so they secretly changed the rules.  To save us from what?  The president of our choice?  By impeaching the truth, we’ve entered a new reality.  In this altered state, 7 Trump executive orders in the first month of his administration make him a tyrant, and 17 Biden executive orders on his first day make him a healer.  The president who lowered taxes, reduced energy prices, and created unprecedented job opportunities for minorities is a racist, while the president who promises higher taxes, higher fuel prices, and who kills jobs is the great emancipator.  In this shadow world, people who try to protect their rights by going to court are destroying democracy, while those who violate laws, ignore the Constitution and trample the right to free speech are protecting it.  And having impeached the truth and prevented it from coming back, a president who told supporters to “fight like hell” and to “peacefully make your voices heard” committed insurrection, while Democrats who incited agitators to physically attack Trump staffers and supporters, who condoned riots that burned police stations, looted cities, injured police officers, and killed people are patriots.  It’s truly Orwellian, so I’ll end with a quote from George Orwell, “In a time of universal deceit – telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”  Viva la revelucion.

FRANK ON FRIDAY – Biden Returns to Normal

Throughout the presidential campaign, corrupt demented imbecile Joe Biden presented himself, and was presented by the fake news as, “a moderate.”  As with most Democrat messages this was partly true and mostly false.  As for the true part, it’s a matter of degrees.  Having been in Washington for half a century, Biden is a link to the Democrat Party’s past.  Lest we forget, in the not so distant past there actually were moderate, and even conservative, Democrats.  When Biden arrived in Washington, our politics had not yet devolved into the polarized mess it has become.  There were 55 Democrats in the Senate, and 17 of them were from the South.  Both Senators from Maryland were Republicans, and there were Republican Senators in Oregon, Delaware, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.  The Southern Democrats weren’t the only conservatives.  Frank Church, Birch Bayh, and Henry Jackson were conservative, especially on fiscal issues.   Fast forward to Ronald Reagan, the first  challenger to the control of the Washington establishment.  Like Donald Trump, Reagan was hated by Democrats, and was opposed by members of his own Party.  The nation began to split apart ideologically.  Democrats declared Reagan too old, dumb, and unfit to be president.  Fast forward to 2000, and a close election in Florida.  Democrats alleged election fraud, and declared G.W. Bush illegitimate, dumb, and unfit to be president.  The polarization continued.  Fast forward to 2016 and Trump.  Democrats alleged election fraud, and declared Trump illegitimate, dumb, and unfit to be president.  Seeing a pattern here?  In 2021, Democrats and Republicans are in two very different, and sometimes armed, camps.  It’s sad.  Joe Biden was sold to us as a return to normalcy after the aberration of rude, crude Donald Trump.  But what’s normal?  Whatever the question, is Joe Biden really the answer?  And is he moderate?  By 1974 standards, maybe.  So in today’s world of woke morons, cancel culture, communist professors, ignorant youth, Schumer, Pelosi and the Squad, Biden must be moderate, right?  Wrong!  Enter Democrat falsehood in all its glory.  The problem is that Joe Biden isn’t an ideologue, he’s a weather vane.  The tough on crime, busing opposing Biden would be moderate, but that Biden’s gone.  2021 Biden claims to be moderate, but actions speak louder than lying words.  Democrats lambasted Donald Trump as a tyrant, who ruled by executive decree.  That was a lie, of course.  Every Trump order was litigated, and ultimately upheld.  Biden has been president for two weeks.  So far, he’s issued more than 45 executive orders, nearly all of which are designed to mollify or empower the loony Left.  Biden has virtually ended immigration enforcement.  He’s stopped work on the border wall, so we won’t need Trump’s “beautiful door.”  Invaders can simply walk around it.  The enhanced vetting of people from 7 terrorist States in the Middle East was cancelled.  Detention of illegal aliens was cancelled.  Paraphrasing the late Jim Dooley (anyone remember him?) Biden has encouraged illegal border crossings, by practically yelling, “Come on up!”  We won’t need Catch and Release, because if you don’t catch you don’t need to release.  Trump had the economy humming before the Wuhan invasion.  Once they let people go back to work it will roar again.  A smart politician, who fancied himself moderate, would recognize the underlying strength, be thankful he inherited a good economy, leave things alone, and then take credit for the results.  Biden is neither smart nor moderate.  Because he’s beholden to the nuts on the Left, Biden’s royal decrees seem designed to destroy small business, kill jobs, and stifle a post-Wuhan recovery.  Biden has decreed his support for a nationwide $15 an hour minimum wage.  The federal government pays its own employees less in areas with lower costs of living, because it recognizes that it costs less to live in Alabama than in New York.  They consider this fair, and it is.  But the small business owner in Tuscaloosa must pay entry level employees the same amount they pay on Broadway.  This, they claim is not only fair but imperative.  The Left wants to imposes income equality, you see.  Other countries have it, like Cuba and North Korea.  What could go wrong?  Everything.  The $15 wage is a sop to the prime Democrat victim-hood constituency, low income minority groups.  Only it doesn’t help them.  It either causes employers to cut the number and hours of workers, or it puts them out of business, and everyone’s out of a job.  Great.  In another decree, Biden stopped the Keystone Pipeline – again.  This is a sop to the environmental nuts.  Must end fossil fuels, you see.  Biden has also decreed climate change an essential element of US foreign policy and national security, and has rejoined the Paris Climate Accords.  That’ll show Trump, huh?  Only problem is that all these actions will do is cost jobs, most of them high-paying labor union jobs, you know, those people Democrats keep saying they’re trying to help.  But it stops the oil from being shipped into the U.S., right? Wrong!  Without the economical, environmentally friendly pipeline to move the oil, it will be shipped by train or truck.  The same amount of oil comes in, but on trains and trucks that have to burn oil in order to move oil, plus the inevitable weather delays, crashes and spills.  All great for the environment.  And what about that foreign policy thing?  Biden accused Trump of snubbing our allies.  Last time I looked, Canada was an ally, and the Biden pipeline order just screwed them, without so much as a “by your leave.”  Hands across the sea, right?  Biden owes Black Lives Matter and the rest of the race hustlers too.  So King Sleepy Joe rescinded the Trump administration’s 1776 Commission, which would have required schools to teach real history instead of the 1619 Project’s “America was founded to promote slavery” bullshit.  And another regal decree set the stage for the federal  government to rescind zoning laws in the suburbs.  Trump may have warned about that several times during the campaign.  Simply put, Biden’s no moderate, but he is a return to normalcy.  No, not the normal America we remember, where opposing views could be discussed openly and honestly, and the Congress once in while worked together for the good of the citizen.  No, they don’t mean normal for us.  It’s a return to normal for Biden and the Swamp creatures in both Parties, who are once again free to tax, spend, lie, cheat and steal.  Now that’s normal.

FRANK ON FRIDAY – Catch 2021

This installment of Frank on Friday is about the idiotic, wasteful and malicious second impeachment of Donald Trump.  I looked for a catchy title that included the word “impeachment,” but then it occurred to me that, what we have here is just the latest version of what Joseph Heller described in his novel, Catch 22.  We’ll call it Catch 2021.  The novel is about a WWII bomber crew.  Those crewmen had a 29% chance of surviving 30 missions.  Catch 22 provided that if you’re crazy you don’t have to fly, and to fly missions, you have to be crazy.  You can apply to be excused.  But doing that proves you’re not crazy, so you must keep flying.  Now, we know the Democrats in the Congress are certifiably crazy, and were crazy even before Trump arrived on the scene.  His arrival triggered TDS, Trump Derangement Syndrome, which drove them to try to destroy Trump, his family, anyone who ever worked for him, and any evidence that he ever existed.  It’s pretty sick.  They impeached him the first time for an innocent phone call, in which he dared to suggest that Hunter Biden might be a fit subject for investigation.  Outrageous!  Of course, while that farce was going on, the FBI never bothered to mention that Hunter already was being investigated – by them.  No harm though.  Trump was acquitted and Christopher Wray got to keep his job.  The second impeachment is an even bigger load of horseshit.  Although Wray’s FBI knew in advance that some bad actors were planning violence at the Capitol, Trump is guilty of promoting insurrection because, after the bad actors had already acted, he told supporters to make their voices heard, “peacefully and patriotically.”  This would be bad enough if Trump was still President.  He’s not in office anymore, but that doesn’t matter, he still must be removed.  Only the president, vice-president or civil officers of the United States may be impeached.  The purpose of impeachment is removal from office, after which, the official may be prevented from holding another office.  Nancy Pelosi says impeachment is necessary to defend our democracy and Constitution.  So, our Constitution says only a designated office holder may be impeached, but the Dems say the only way to defend our Constitution is to impeach someone who’s not an office holder, and shut down the Congress for a sham trial.  You’d have to be crazy to do something like that, and crazy people shouldn’t be running the government.  But if you tell them they’re crazy you’re un-American for failing to protect the Constitution by violating the Constitution.  It’s Catch 2021.  Welcome to the era of Biden unity.  What do the experts say?  Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz says you can’t impeach  a former President, and the case should never come to trial.  Former U.S. Court of Appeals Judge J. Michael Luttig agrees, calling the effort political theater. “Once Trump’s term ends, Congress loses its constitutional authority to continue impeachment proceedings against him.”  So if they can’t legally do this, how are they doing it?  Back to Catch 22, which also provides, “They have a right to do anything we can’t stop them from doing.”  Hence, whatever they do is legal, even if the Constitution says it’s not legal.  The Great One, Mark Levin has called the endless war against Donald Trump “really repulsive.”  Professor Jonathan Turley is even more blunt, comparing the second Trump impeachment to the Cadaver Synod.  In 897, Pope Stephen VI was angry with the actions of Pope Formosus, who had died in 896.  Pope Stephen decided to get even with the late Pope.   He pulled Formosus out of his tomb, propped him up in court, and convicted him of variety of violations.  They cut three fingers off Formosus’ hand, then threw his body in the Tiber River.  It’s not an isolated case.  Oliver Cromwell was instrumental in the English Civil War that resulted in the execution of Charles I.  Cromwell died of natural causes in 1658, but, 360 years ago tomorrow, on January 30, 1661, a mob dug up Cromwell’s body, hung it in chains and then beheaded it, for treason!  This latest impeachment effort makes almost as much sense.  It makes you wonder what’s motivating the deluded Democrats.  There’s a simple answer.  Hatred and fear.  Soon after The Godfather movie was released, there was a comedy record album called, Everything You Want to Know About the Godfather, But Don’t Ask.  The album featured satiric take-offs on The Godfather theme.  In one of them, two mobsters are discussing the killing of a rival.  One mobster says with pride, “Even after they hit him, they put a bomb in his hearse.  That’s real hate.”  That same kind of hate is one of the motivations for Democrats.  Trump spoiled their 2016 party, and delayed the advance of Socialism.  They used all means, legal and illegal to get rid of him, and they succeeded.  He may be gone, yet they fear his return.  Which is yet another Catch 2021.  According to Democrats, Trump is so universally regarded as a threat to our way of life, and is so guilty and repulsive, that he must be impeached even after having left office.  But even though they’re so firmly convinced that Trump is universally despised and disgraced, they’re also afraid that he’s so popular that he may be reelected.  I rest my case.  Brain damage.  Democrats have to be brain damaged to believe this impeachment will help them.  If they were sane, having defeated Trump, they would have thanked him for his service, and told him, “Don’t let the White House door hit you in the ass on your way out.”  But they can’t let it go.  The truth is Democrats need Trump because hating Trump is the only thing they agree on.  They need a villain to distract the country from corrupt demented imbecile Joe Biden.  But by impeaching Trump, they’re playing right into his hands.  Let’s face it, nobody plays the Martyr better than Trump.  “Witch hunt.”  “Fake news.”  The only thing Democrats have to gain by impeachment is to prevent Trump from holding office again.  At 78 years old in 2024, that’s unlikely.  By doing this, Democrats are just giving Trump more coal to fire up his supporters.  It’s a big mistake.  They need 67 votes to convict him.  They may have 55.  Either way it doesn’t matter.  Unless they manage to convict him, cut out his tongue and throw him in the Potomac River, they’ll still have to deal with Trump in the future, which is the ultimate Catch 2021.  They need Trump to stay in power, but Trump is the greatest threat to their power.  Come what may, the Democrats are marching on with impeachment.  Joseph Heller’s Catch 22 character Yossarian said it best, “Insanity is contagious.”

FRANK ON FRIDAY – Woodrow G. Biden

Recent events might cause us to conclude that we’re in uncharted territory.  Many viewed the challenges of 2020 as unique.  Political strife.  Pandemic.  Violence in the streets.  A contentious presidential election.  But it turns out that there’s really nothing new here.  The old French proverb, “the more things change, the more they stay the same” was never more apt than it is right now, because the truth is, not much has changed in the last 100 years.  If you’re a history buff and a political junkie like me I recommend David Pietrusza’s, 1920: The Year of the Six Presidents.  It’s a history of the events leading up to the 1920 election.  The title refers to the fact that six men who had been, were, or would be president were involved in the 1920 campaign.  Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover and FDR.  Think we’re dealing with issues we’ve never dealt with before?  Think again.  In the 1920 campaign, there were great political  tensions between left-leaning and right-leaning Americans.  Unemployment was high after WWI, and recovery was weakened by the Spanish Flu Pandemic.  Sound familiar?  In 1920, there were race riots in many cities.  In 1920, the Red Scare had leaders checking under every bed for Russian communists out to destroy America.  Russian collusion even then.  Police in 1920 had clashes with anarchist and left-leaning groups in the streets.  In 1920, public health authorities strongly recommended that people wear face masks to stop the spread of the virus.  They also issued social distancing guidelines and urged people to practice proper hygiene.  About 600,000 Americans died of the Spanish Flu.  We’re well on our way to that figure with the Wuhan Flu.  How medicine has advanced in 100 years.  If you need more evidence that our government has made little progress in 100 years, other issues in 1920 were disagreements on immigration policy, and calls for government controlled healthcare.  The 2020 election wasn’t exactly the same as the one in 1920.  2020 being the way 2020 was, some things were ass-backwards.  For instance, in 1920, outgoing president, Woodrow Wilson, was a progressive/socialist, and incoming president Harding a devout capitalist.  In 2020, switch that around.  1920 was the first time women could vote.  In 2020, we expanded suffrage to non-citizens, the unregistered and the deceased.  In 100 years, we’ve gone from one person – one vote, to one tractor-trailer – 138,000 votes.  Progress. Back to Woodrow Wilson.  Wilson was the father of the Deep State.  He saw the Constitution as an outdated impediment to the absolute power of the federal government.  As a result, Wilson built up the administrative State, the bureaucracy, to permit the federal government to expand into areas the Founders left to the States by issuing regulations rather than laws.  100 years later, the federal government has balooned far beyond Wilson’s wildest dreams.  By contrast, today’s outgoing president, Trump, cut into the Deep State by reducing regulations.  Woodrow Wilson did have something in common with Trump.  Both Wilson and Trump contracted the virus that was the culprit in each of their respective pandemics.  Wilson also has parallels with Joe Biden when it comes to diminished capacity.  Wilson suffered a stroke 13 months before the end of his term.  He was bedridden for most of the last year of his term, and it is suspected that his wife was really president that last year.  The difference is that corrupt demented imbecile Joe Biden is mentally diminished on his way into office, and his wife has been propping him up for the year preceding the start of his term.  In 1920, outgoing president Wilson had a personal “tone” that was repugnant to many.  Sound familiar?  Wilson was a nasty, arrogant, sanctimonious SOB.  When he proposed his “Fourteen Points” at Versailles, France’s Prime Minister Clemenceau observed, “Fourteen points?  God Almighty had only ten.”  Like Trump, Wilson had problems with people in his own Party.  Wilson accepted the help of Democrat Party bosses to get elected NJ Governor, and once elected, he double-crossed the bosses, refusing even to speak to them.  As a result, the Democrat bosses sabotaged their own legislative candidates to let Republicans take control of the Legislature.  That’s real hate.  Call them the Never Wilsoners.  The 1920 campaign sounded a lot like the 2020 contest.  1920 Republicans opposed Wilson’s attempt to get the U.S. into the League of Nations, running on a slogan familiar to Trump supporters – “America First.”  Warren G. Harding was elected on the pledge that America must return to “normalcy.”  Biden ran on a pledge that things “would return to normal,” channeling Warren G. Harding, “America’s present need is not heroics but healing; not nostrums but normalcy; not revolution but restoration…not surgery but serenity.”  The Chicago Sun-Times was more blunt, “We’ll have a president who is not crazy, erratic, self-serving and intellectually dishonest.”  No.  He’ll just be demented, confused, and personally dishonest.   In any case, some people in the Biden camp aren’t onboard with the normalcy thing.  Witness the words of Lilliputian leader of the loony Left, Robert Reich.  “A return to ‘normal’ would be disastrous.  We can’t give in to the allure of ‘normal’ – because normal is what got us here.  Normal led to Trump.  Normal in this case has been decades of systemic racism as well as shredded safety nets for everyone in need, the most expensive but least adequate healthcare system in the modern world, and a growing climate catastrophe that’s steadily undermining public health.”  Whoa!  Funny that Reich and his Commie compatriots did nothing to stem “systemic racism” or any other supposed catastrophe during the 8 years of Clinton or the 8 years of Obama.  Maybe it’s only “systemic” when they’re not in charge.  And shredded safety nets?  Social spending has gone up every year.  But I digress.  What’s sad about Leftist calls for normalcy is that the Leftist nuts actually believe that they are normal.  It’s a minifestation of their metal disorder, delusions of rectitude.  If you believe you’re always right, then you’re normal and everyone else is abnormal.  The last parallel I’ll share from the 1920 election is that the winner in 1920, as in 2020, had a 7 million vote plurality.  Biden better hope the similarity ends there.  Warren G. Harding was elected in 1920, but his administration was plagued by corruption, and he died in office, reportedly of food poisoning, to be replaced by Silent Calvin Coolidge.  Not bad. If the Squad feeds Woodrow G. Biden the poison mushrooms, we’ll get Cackling Kamala Harris.  Pray for Biden’s health.
