FRANK ON FRIDAY – The Sound of Stupid

The most despicable thing the Left has done to President Trump has been its refusal to treat him with the respect due any President of the United States.  Trump never has been accorded the respect that the other 43 Presidents were accorded.  Instead, this President has been treated as a criminal ever since he came down the elevator in 2015.  Democrat politicians treat Trump as a criminal, the media treats him as a criminal, and we now know that the CIA, the FBI and the Obama Justice Department treated Trump as a criminal.  What’s more, even after a two year anal examination by Bob Mueller’s 17 Hillary loving persecutors, a probe that found Trump had not violated any law, he remains a prime suspect of the Left.  I submit to you gentle readers that the fault lies not with the President, but with the Leftists, who are so blinded by hate, that they are forced to interpret any incident, no matter how trivial, as proof positive that Trump is a fascist, racist, sexist, homophobe.  But they’ve outdone themselves now.  In a recent tweet, far-left New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman suggested that the song Edelweiss, which recently was played at the White House by the Marine Corps Band, was a pro-Nazi anthem.  The NYT twit tweeted, “Does anyone at that White House understand the significance of that song?”  Really?  Is it any wonder that Twitter contains the word “twit?” Haberman is the NYT White House correspondent.  There was a time when the White House correspondent was an experienced, intelligent journalist; people like Helen Thomas, or Hugh Sidey, who was the White House correspondent for Time Magazine.  I met Hugh Sidey in 1977.  He covered every President from Eisenhower to George W. Bush.  He was smart, he was funny, and he was a master storyteller.  Which brings us back to Maggie Haberman.  She grew up in New York City, and she is a 45 year old graduate of Sarah Lawrence College.  One might expect that such credentials carried with them at least a modicum of intelligence, and if not intelligence, then at least a degree of practical experience in the real world.  And even failing those qualifications, one might expect that at least Maggie Haberman had, at some time in her life, seen the movie, The Sound of Music.  I know, the picture was released before she was born, but it’s on television all the time. Then again, as a sophisticated New Yorker, maybe Haberman doesn’t watch TV, except for MSNBC, of course.  But then again, as a sophisticated New Yorker, there is the theater, and The Sound of Music has been brought back to the stage many times.  Maggie Haberman felt compelled to tweet out her disgust that President Trump dared to have Edelweiss playing as she entered the White House.  She suggested that her disgust came from the “fact” that Edelweiss is “a pro-Nazi song.”  Let’s put aside for the moment Maggie’s insulting suggestion that the U.S. Marine Corps Band would play a pro-Nazi song, and put further to the side the notion that President Trump himself chose the program for the Band to play because, of course, as a latter-day Nazi, he was determined to put his Nazi pedigree on full display.  The real insult is that Haberman, who occupies a high position on a publication which claims to contain, “All the news that’s fit to print,” could exhibit such stunning ignorance.  Haberman likely connects the song Edelweiss only to Amazon’s television series, The Man In the High Castle, a fictional drama set in an alternate universe where the Nazis and the Japanese won World War II and now occupy different parts of America.  The Edelweiss song is played during the opening credits of The Man In the High Castle.  Obviously, Trump is a fan of any show that has Nazis in it, so he must have ordered the Band to play that song as a tribute to his Nazi forebears.  Edelweiss is a lovely song that sounds as though it was written long ago.  It is an iconic tune that brings people (well, normal people), back to the innocence of watching The Sound of Music since childhood.  Edelweiss actually is a brilliantly subversive anti-Nazi tune penned by two German Jews, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, for their 1959 Broadway smash The Sound of Music.  World War II was fresh in the minds of Rodgers and Hammerstein, and for that matter anyone around in 1959.  The older folks had lived through it, and the younger crowd had heard of it, as history was still being taught in America in those days.  The Anschluss was the March 12, 1938 Nazi annexation of Austria.  If Maggie Haberman didn’t learn the history of Nazi Germany at Sarah Lawrence, you’d at least think that she might, at some point in her life have read a book or seen The Sound of Music.   If she had, then she might have known that it is the semi- factual account of the Von Trapp family singers.  In it, Baron Von Trapp is an Austrian Navy Captain who is being involuntarily commissioned into the German Navy.  The Baron is a patriotic Austrian who hates  fascism in general and the Nazis in particular.  Edelweiss is a patriotic Austrian song whose lyrics include the line, “Bless my homeland forever.”  When the Baron sings the song in public, he is defying the local Austrian Nazi official who is trying to force him to work for Adolph Hitler’s Kriegsmarine (Navy) against his will.  The real facts don’t matter, however.  With the advent of “if true” “journalism,” no real facts matter.  Maggie Haberman knows all she needs to know about it.  If that song was played in the Trump White House, it was played to honor the Nazis.  Then again, the Edelweiss lyrics do expose a nasty streak of nationalism among Austrians, and in this progressive age, all nationalism is prohibited, even when its purpose is to prevent a genocide.  To paraphrase George Orwell’s Snowball, “Reporters good, Trump bad.”  Hey, maybe “Snowball” is the forefather of the progressive Snowflakes.  Nah, more likely Rodgers and Hammerstein were just crypto-Nazis.

FRANK ON FRIDAY – The End Is Near – Again

The world is going to end in 12 years unless the government takes action, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said recently.  “And I think the part of it that is generational is that millenials and people, in Gen Z, and all these folks that come after us are looking up and we’re like, the world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change.  You’re biggest issue, your biggest issue is how are going to pay for it? — and like this is the war, this is our World War II.”  If you are asking yourself, “Say what?” you are not alone. AOC (Arrogant Obstinate-Cuckoo), continued, “How are we saying take it easy, the America that we’re living in today is dystopian with people sleeping in their cars so they can work a second job without healthcare and we’re told to settle down.  It’s a fundamental separation between that fierce urgency of now, the why we can’t wait that King [Dr. Martin Luther] spoke of. That at some point this chronic reality do reach a breaking point and I think for our generation it reached that, I wished I didn’t have to be doing every post, but sometimes I just feel like people aren’t being held accountable.” Being so much smarter than the rest of us must be such a burden.  It’s not the first time AOC has warned us we only have 12 years until the world comes to an end, so it must be true, right?  Uh, I wouldn’t start thinking of skipping the payments on your mortgage just yet.  The one thing the global warming/climate change alarmists have in common is that they have been dead wrong for almost 50 years.  Next week is the 49th anniversary of the first Earth Day in 1970.  The first Earth Day was organized by Stanford University professor Paul Erlich, who in 1968, predicted that by the 1980’s world population would outstrip the ability of our economic system to produce more food, and as a result up to 200 million people would starve to death.  He might have been wrong there.  The world’s population has doubled since 1968 without the predicted mass starvation.   Other “experts” also made dire predictions in 1970.  North Texas State University Professor Peter Gunter predicted world-wide famine from 1975 to 2000. Ecologist Kenneth Watt predicted that nitrogen buildup in the atmosphere would filter out all light, making all farm land unusable.  I must have missed that one.  Watt wasn’t done, though.  He also predicted that by 2000 there would be no crude oil left on the Earth.  As I write this, we are running out of storage tanks and tankers for the excess crude oil we are producing, and we are exporting oil.  In 2006, Al Gore no less, and there is no less, warned that the world would end in 10 years.  That didn’t happen either.  Regardless, the claim of global warming is still being made in the face of a 17 year history of flat temperatures.  Since 1880, global average temperature has gone up 1.5 degrees, that’s 1.5 degrees in nearly 140 years.  The United Nations, that organization that we are supposed to believe never lies and is always right (I don’t know about that one) claims that “It is extremely likely that human influence on climate caused more than half of the observed increase in global average surface temperature from 1951 to 2010.”  Translation – the U.N. “thinks” humans “may” be responsible for a temperature increase of less than 1 degree.  They must have irrefutable evidence for that, right?  Well, not really.  There is evidence that CO2 levels have increased.  The U.N. is worried about that.  Now, CO2 levels have been 4 to 18 times higher in the past, but these are “experts” you understand, and they have a solution.  As you might guess, the solution is for the United States to undergo “a radical transformation.”  Uh, where have we heard that term before?  That’s right, from Il Duce Obama.  To be fair, the U.N. says all nations must radically transform, but what are the odds of that happening?  The radical transformation entails the absolute shut down of all coal-fired energy plants by 2050.  That’s part of the Green New Deal, remember?  No coal, no oil, no gasoline, no internal combustion engines, no cow farts, and ultimately, no wealth in the United States.  Yeah, that should be an improvement.  We’ll have a worldwide depression that puts the Great Depression of the 1930’s to shame, but we have no choice if we want to live.  The real question is who would want to live in that world?  The transformation would see large swaths of land currently used to produce food converted to growing trees that store carbon and crops designated for energy use. The latter would be used as part of a currently nonexistent program to get power from trees or plants and then bury the resulting carbon dioxide emissions in the ground, leading to a net subtraction of the gas from the air.  The result?  Millions will starve, but CO2 levels “may” decrease.  The Leftist Greens, formerly known as Reds, are willing to condemn America to a bleak future of poverty and despair so long as they can dictate (isn’t that what dictators do?) every aspect of our lives, if you call that living.  America may lead the world, protect the world and feed the world, but once the whole world is equally miserable and destitute, their work will be done.  The Greens would give us the world envisioned by philosopher Thomas Hobbes, where the life of Man is “cold, solitary, nasty, brutish and short.”  I’ll pass.  How about the truth?  I know that truth has little impact on the Left, but the truth is that, if reducing CO2 is important, the U.S. is the only industrialized nation that has reduced its output of CO2 in recent years.  We’ve done that without sacrificing our way of life, and along the way, we’ve grown stronger and improved the lives of Americans.  Too bad we can’t continue making things better for Americans.  AOC has spoken.  Here’s a thought.  AOC should shut her pie hole for 12 years, and get out of the way.  Happy Earth Day!  Well at least for the next 11 years.

FRANK ON FRIDAY – Tell Your Truth

In the advent of the #MeToo age we constantly are bombarded with with real and supposed victims who we are told must be free to “tell their truth.”  “Telling my truth” is a decidedly foreign term to an old fart such as myself.  Forgive me, but when I grew up there was no such thing as “my truth” “your truth” of anyone else’s truth.  It was a much simpler time.  We had the truth, which was defined as a fact that had been verified, a/k/a, what really happened, and everything else, which was not the truth.  Simple really.  Nowadays it’s not that simple.  Today we must be subjected to a “truth” which is peculiar to the speaker of said “truth.”  The Urban Dictionary defines “my truth” as follows:  “Often used by academics, this is a convenient phrase for avoiding arguments because people can contradict your opinion but not your ‘truth.’  The phrase is often used when seeking to justify a controversial personal stance or action because people are not allowed to argue with ‘your truth.'”  It’s not supposed to be  THE TRUTH, but instead, something someone tries desperately to convince themselves of, in order to justify their actions and opinions. So now, the “truth” is whatever any particular person thinks is true.  To paraphrase Rene Descartes,  “Cogito Ergo Verus,”  “I think, therefore it’s true.”  According to Oxford Dictionaries, the term post-truth was first used in a 1992 essay by the late Serbian-American playwright Steve Tesich in The Nation.  Tesich writes that following the shameful truth of Watergate, more assuaging coverage of the Iran–Contra scandal  and Persian Gulf War demonstrate that “we, as a free people, have freely decided that we want to live in some post-truth world.”  In 2004, Ralph Keyes used the term “post-truth era” in his book by that title.  In it, he argued that deception is becoming more prevalent in the current media driven world.  According to Keyes, lies stopped being treated as something inexcusable and started being viewed as something acceptable in certain situations. (Like politics)  Which supposedly led to the beginning of the post truth era.  American journalist Eric Alterman spoke of a “post-truth political environment” and coined the term “the post-truth presidency” in his analysis of the misleading statements made by the Bush administration after 9/11.   A defining trait of post-truth politics is that campaigners continue to repeat their talking points, even when media outlets, experts in the field in question, and others provide proof that contradicts these talking points.  Hannah Arendt, writing in 1967, presciently explained the basis for this phenomenon: “Since the liar is free to fashion his ‘facts’ to fit the profit and pleasure, or even the mere expectations, of his audience, the chances are that he will be more persuasive than the truth teller.”   The New York Times and The Washington Post  continually decry Donald Trump as “a post-truth President.  The Post paints Ronald Reagan as a noted liar, quoting his claim that, “If you tell the same story five times it becomes the truth.”  I might have chosen LBJ or Bill Clinton as better examples of noted presidential liars, but so be it.  After all, it was Bill Clinton who successfully changed the name of continual governmental lying from “lies” to “spin.”  According to the Left, Donald Trump was elected President by practicing “post-truth politics.  The relevant question, which the left-wing media chooses not to answer, is – If Trump is always lying to us, how does his supposed misconduct justify the media’s current practice of lying to the public?  In other words, if Trump is a bad actor, shouldn’t the media be the last bastion of the real truth?  If the media was really concerned with THE TRUTH, then shouldn’t it actually tell THE TRUTH?  That would require it report facts that are verified, whether favorable or unfavorable to the President.  Things like the dramatic improvement of the U.S. economy under this President, the great unemployment numbers, the increase in real incomes, the benefits of tax reform, the improvements of trade agreements, and prison reform.  A media dedicated to telling THE TRUTH would not ignore the Obama Administration’s illegal spying on a rival presidential candidate, just because his name was Trump.  Last but not least, an honest media, which did not itself practice post-truth journalism would honestly report the real and present danger presented by the humanitarian crisis on our southern border. They don’t.   It’s real, yet they deny it.  At the end of the day, the reality that politicians do and always have played fast and loose with the truth is no excuse for journalists to abandon their duty to report true facts.  Simply put, Diogenes would grow old and die toting his lantern around searching for an honest man in Washington.  The duty of the media is to shine the lantern of truth on real facts.  It must not abandon that duty to join the resistance.  Freedom of the press exists to fairly report the positions of both sides, not to take sides.

FRANK ON FRIDAY – Don’t Stop

Even though Robert Mueller recruited a team of Democrat partisans to investigate supposed collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government; even though the Mueller inquisitors left no stone unturned to find evidence of collusion for nearly two years; even though, on May 17, 2017, right after Mueller was appointed, FBI Agent Peter Strozk told his paramour Lisa Page he didn’t want to work on the investigation because he already knew,  “You and I both know the odds are nothing.  If I thought it was likely, I’d be there no question.  I hesitate in part because of my gut sense and concern that there’s no big there there,” and even though Mueller and company beat that dead horse until March 22, 2019 before announcing there was no evidence, many Democrats are still not satisfied that there was no collusion.  Nancy Pelosi knows that continuing this charade will not help keep Democrats in control of the House.   That’s why she announced talk about impeaching the President “is not worth it.”  The problem is that Pelosi is not not running the insane asylum that has become the Democrat Party.  Newt Gingrich explained it best the other night in an interview with Laura Ingraham.  Democrats now are split into two groups – the semi crazy wing, and the really crazy wing.  There are Democrats who support infanticide, a 70% income tax rate, single-payer healthcare that prohibits all private health insurance in America, whether you like your insurance or not, banning all fossil fuels, allowing non-citizens to vote, and reparations for slavery.  These are the mildly crazy Democrats.  The really crazy Democrats are even nuttier than that.  They staked everything they had on Bob Mueller’s being able to drive Donald Trump from office.  Finally, finally, they would cleanse the White House of the mistake that the stupid deplorable voters made in 2016.  Democrats are smarter than the unwashed peasants who elected Trump, with the help of Vladimir Putin.  Their national nightmare would at long last end, they would awake, and the fundamental transformation of America begun by Il Duce Obama would recommence, turning the United States into the Socialist workers’ paradise that they know is best for us, whether we like it or not.  However, much like their election day nightmare, Mueller did the unthinkable – he cleared Trump of any wrongdoing.  Never mind that Mueller made the only proper decision under the law.  Never mind that the whole Trump-Russia collusion narrative was a fever dream, cooked up by the Hillary Clinton campaign.  The irony is lost on the Democrats.  Hillary hired Fusion GPS to dig up dirt on Trump.  This is called opposition research.  Trying  to find compromising material on a political adversary is a perfectly routine and acceptable practice, at least when practiced by Democrats.  Problem was, Fusion hired Brit Christopher Steele, and Steele paid some Russian intelligence agents, think KGB, or FSB, or whatever they’re calling it this year, and the Russians made up some outrageous crap (dare I say Bull Schiff) about Trump being blackmailed by the Russians.  Crap so wild that Steele has admitted under oath even he wont vouch for it.  Alright so far.  Lying about an opponent is an American political tradition.  And therein lies the irony.  The Democrats are using false information Hillary bought from Russians to prove that Trump colluded with Russians.  It never happened, they always knew it never happened, Mueller said it never happened, but the Dems can’t let it go.  The really crazy Dems have been promising their even crazier base that they had the goods on Trump.  There never were any goods, but Dems like Adam (Pencil Neck) Schiff can’t, or won’t, admit it.  If he really believes his own crap he’s certifiably insane.  Schiff still insists there was collusion.  This week he said the Trump Tower meeting set up by the Russian lawyer, who promised dirt on Hillary and delivered nothing, was illegal and unpatriotic.  Picture it – according to Schiff, when Hillary actually payed Russians and Ukranians for dirt on Trump that wasn’t illegal or unpatriotic.  When Hillary sent the false information to the Obama Justice Department, and leaked it to the media, that wasn’t illegal or unpatriotic.  When the Obama Justice Department used information it knew to be false to get warrant to spy on a political opponent, that wasn’t illegal or unpatriotic.  It was OK by Schiff when Obama released raw intelligence data to 26 agencies to damage the incoming President, and when they illegally unmasked American citizens intercepted in foreign intelligence surveillance, and when they railroaded General Flynn, and George Papadopolous.  But trying to get information about Hillary from someone with a Russian name – that’s treason, so sayeth Herr Schiff.  But they can’t stop.  The Dems are reliving the Bill Clinton campaign’s Fleetwood Mac theme song, Don’t Stop –

Don’t stop, thinking about collusion,
Don’t stop, it’ll soon be here,
It’ll be, better than before,
Trump will be gone, Trump will be gone.

The Democrats have been lying to their base for so long that they have started to believe their own Bull Schiff.  They should seek help.

FRANK ON FRIDAY – Mueller-Schiff Storm

Return with us now to those heady days some 14 months ago, when we began to get the release of the emails and texts between those two star-crossed FBI lovers, Peter Strozk and Lisa Page.  To recap, Strozk was a high-ranking FBI Special Agent in the FBI’s Counter-Espionage Unit.  Page was an FBI lawyer, with access to the FBI Brass around Director James Comey.  Those two crazy FBI kids carried out their adulterous affair by means of some 50,000 emails and text messages.  And I bet you thought the FBI spent its time chasing criminals.  Strozk and Page sent thousands of the electronic equivalent of high school love notes to one another, many of them concerning the upcoming 2016 presidential election.  Strozk complained to Page about the smell of Trump supporters he met at a Walmart, and thought that Hillary Clinton should win 100,000,000 to 0.  Page worried that Trump might win.  Peter Strozk comforted Page in an August 15, 2016 text, “I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy’s office — that there’s no way he gets elected — but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk,” he wrote. “It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before 40.”  August 15th was about two weeks after the FBI started Operation Crossfire Hurricane, the counter-intelligence investigation of the Trump campaign that was ginned up by the phony Steele dossier, which led to 4 FISA court warrants permitting the FBI to spy on the Trump campaign.  Never forget how it all began – Hillary paid a British guy to get false information from Russian intelligence operatives in order to try to allege that Trump was colluding with Russia.  Fast forward to Trump’s election.  Comey gets fired, and he leaks information to the media, which leads to Rod Rosenstein’s appointment of Robert Mueller as Special Counsel to investigate Trump.  The same Robert Mueller who, two days before the appointment, unsuccessfully tried to get Trump to hire him as FBI Director, and the same Rosenstein who signed a FISA warrant.  We then endured nearly two years of Mueller investigations, despite the fact that in July 2016, Justice Dept. lawyer Bruce Ohr told everybody, including Rosenstein and Andrew Weissman that the Steele dossier was a crock of political Bull Schiff.  In two years, Mueller never once indicted anyone connected to the Trump campaign with engaging in any illegal conduct with any Russian.  Congress investigated for the same two years, and found nothing.  Meanwhile, we were treated every day to the likes of James Clapper, former CIA Director Brennan, Eric Swalwell and the reprehensible Adam Schiff, who assured us that Trump is a traitor, he would be driven from office, then prosecuted and imprisoned, and his children all would be indicted, et cetera, et cetera.  Whenever any Democrat, such as master Bull Schiff Artist, Adam Schiff was asked about the fact that no evidence of any collusion had been uncovered, the stock answer was “We have to wait for the Mueller report.”  It’s as though every Dem mouthpiece was hypnotized, and could merely intone, “Wait for the report, wait for the report.”  Bob Mueller, we were assured, was the finest investigator on Earth.  Simon Pure.  A Saint.  He and his Hillary-loving henchmen would expose the truth.  Well, last Friday, Mueller sent his report to Attorney General Barr.  The result?  No evidence of collusion with Russians, even though there were multiple unsuccessful attempts by Russians to gain access to the Trump campaign (yeah – by double agents sent by the CIA and FBI).   No charges for obstruction of justice, even though Mueller copped out and refused to make a legal determination on that.  Mueller announced he couldn’t charge, but couldn’t exonerate Trump.  He left that one to the AG.  Barr and Rosenstein decided there was no case for obstruction.  Picture it – we paid Mueller $25 or $30 million for his legal judgment, and he couldn’t judge.  Bull Schiff!  Mueller and his cronies knew damn well they had no case.  No prosecutor ever – EVER exonerates anybody he or she is investigating.  You either indict, or you don’t, and Mueller didn’t.  End of story.  No doubt the “can’t exonerate” language was in the report to set Barr up as the next bad guy, and to allow Democrat Bull Schiffers to say, “Aha!  He wasn’t cleared.”  The same Democrat imbeciles who last week predicted the Mueller report would end the Trump presidency (John Brennan had inside information about coming indictments), now have changed their tune.  Mad Maxine Waters said the report “is not the end of anything.”  Crazy Maisie Hirono said, “just because it wasn’t enough to charge a crime, there still was collusion.”  Uh huh.  Jerry Nadler, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, is going ahead with another investigation because, I guess 19 lawyers and 40 FBI agents who spent $25 million working for two years, with thousands of subpoenas, 500 search warrants and hundreds of interviews in 13 countries wasn’t comprehensive enough.  Nadler demanded all the Mueller evidence immediately, immediately, harumph!  I guess you can’t expect the head of the Judiciary Committee to know that the laws passed by the Congress, including by Nadler himself, prohibit the release of grand jury materials without court orders.  That other legal giant, Adam Schiff Heel, threatened to subpoena Mueller, and the complete report, and all evidence, and even to take his case to court.  Good plan Schiff for Brains, you’re going to sue the Justice Department.  Good luck with that.  The Democrat brainwashing machine didn’t skip a beat, changing the “Wait for the report” mantra to “We need to get the entire report.”  And that’s the world we live in.   Their anointed savior, Bob Mueller has let them down.  He now must be destroyed.  Attorney General Barr refused to ignore the law, i.e., “no collusion, no crime to cover up, means no obstruction,” so he now must be destroyed.  The Democrats are channeling the Cowardly Lion, “I do believe in collusion, I do believe in collusion, I do, I do!”  For Democrats, Denial is not just a river in Egypt.  I’d like to say I feel bad for these numb sculls, but nah!  Schiff happens guys, get over it.
