President Trump was elected on the promise that he would stop the flow of illegal aliens crossing our southern border. He vowed to build a beautiful wall that would keep the illegals out. He tried. With a Republican Congress for two years, he should have gotten every dollar he needed to do the job, but since most Republicans were no more anxious to see the border secured than the Democrats, it didn’t get done. President Trump may not be a lawyer, but even he knows that the Constitution makes immigration laws the responsibility of the Congress. Simply put, if the immigration problem is going to be fixed, Congress needs to fix it. When tens of thousands of so-called migrants brought siege-like caravans to the border, we watched the video every night, but Democrats denied they existed. When 76,000 illegals were apprehended at the border in February, the Dems said there was no crisis. When border patrol and ICE facilities were overwhelmed, the Dems said there was no crisis. Trump manufactured the problem, it wasn’t real. Congress refused to provide money for the wall. The President then went around Congress with his national emergency declaration, rerouted money and continued construction. Things got “progressively” worse. Record-breaking numbers of illegals continued to pour in. Trump begged the Congress to do its job. Congress refused. ICE facilities were swamped. Supplies ran out. No more space for holding illegals. The President asked for help. Congress refused to provide more aid, and actually tried to reduce the bed space for illegals. Every night, those who saw Fox News saw video evidence proving the existence of a dire emergency and humanitarian disaster at the border. No, no, Democrats told us, believe us, not your lying eyes, repeat after us, “there is no crisis.” “But the pictures. Just look.” “No, no, Trump said it was a crisis, but you know how Trump lies, so it’s not true. No crisis here. Nothing to see.” The border crisis news seems to come at us in waves. It heats up, and then cools down for a time. In May, things really got hot. The President threatened Mexico with tariffs unless they did more to stop the flow of illegals. The Mexicans responded, sending troops to their southern border, and it looked like this issue was about to quiet down again, but not so. Out of the blue, President Trump announced impending raids in big cities to round up illegal aliens who already have been to court, and have been ordered deported. All Hell broke loose. Picture it. Democrats bitch and moan about giving illegals (who they call undocumented migrants) all the benefits of due process in our courts. These people got their due process. The courts have ruled, and have issued lawful orders that they be removed from the country. Now, in sane world, you would expect that members of Congress, that is, lawmakers, that is, the people who enacted the immigration laws and created the system in which immigrants could go to court to argue their claims, would at least pretend to respect the laws they themselves put into place. No such luck. In our insane world, whatever it is that Trump does, Democrats are against it. Even court orders. House Speaker, and legal giant, Nancy Pelosi said, “A violation of status is not a reason for deportation, that’s just not so.” She told President Trump he is “scaring the children.” And you thought we had a constitutional republic, right? Congress makes the laws, the court interprets the laws, and its orders must be respected, right? Not if a criminal alien might be deported. Nancy doubled down, calling Trump’s threatened coast-to-coast deportations of migrants “outside the circle of civilized human behavior.” Huh? Again, the President wasn’t planning to have people accosted at random, agents demanding, “Papers!” then rounding up unsuspecting illegal “migrants.” Again, they went to court and the court ordered them removed. So what the President was going to do was to enforce the lawful orders of the courts, which it is his duty to do. The Democrats simply are crazy. According to the Left, the courts have no right to enforce the laws enacted by the Congress. According to the Left, a president who enforces the lawful orders of the courts is not a civilized human being. The President is not without fault on this. After announcing the raids, Trump agreed to postpone them for two weeks to give Congress one more chance to do its job. I get that Trump is the deal maker, but this is not the right leverage to use. Think about it. Putting aside the reality that Congress will not act, how do you trade aliens who already have orders of removal for potential immigration law reforms? If we can’t deport people that the courts have already ordered removed, then we can’t deport anybody. Another way to view it is that if Democrats want to impeach the President, his failure to deport those subject to court orders is better grounds for impeachment than anything Mueller came up with. As this is written the House has passed a bill providing $4.5 billion for “the children” being detained at the border. It narrowly passed because Democrats, are content to decry “concentration camp” conditions at the border, while denying the government the money to change the conditions, because doing their job might help the President. Sick. The House Democrats announced, “Today we have the opportunity to help the children at the border. It is an appropriations bill, saying to the world, these children — they don’t have hygiene, they are not, in many cases, in their parents’ arms.” How touching. Many of these children are not in their parents’ arms, but not because the mean old President separated them. It’s because more than 25% of them arrive at the border in the hands of people who are not related to them, because they know if they arrive with a child they can’t be turned away. How these poor children came to be in the hands of these strangers, and what these strangers have done to them on the journey to the border, the Democrats care not. “Welcome to America, have some hygiene, and here’s how we register to vote.”
