In 1886, Robert Louis Stevenson published his novella, The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.  We all know the story.  Dr. Jekyll invents a potion that turns him from a mild-mannered man into a homicidal maniac.  Jekyll’s intent was to purify his good side from his bad side.  Of course, what he ends up doing is unleashing the bad side alone, while leaving his former self unchanged.  Jekyll’s dark side (Hyde) is freed from the bonds of conscience, but Jekyll never liberates himself from the darkness.  And what, you may ask, does all this have to do with the here and now?  Sadly, it occurred to me that the horrors of Stevenson’s Victorian melodrama are being reprised by the current Democrat Administration.  Think about it.  Democrats always were “of the Left,” but they weren’t always crazy.  JFK supported the same supply-side economics that Reagan later made famous.  Jimmy Carter preached energy independence.  Bill Clinton tried to control illegal border crossings.  As late as 2006, Hillary Clinton and the detestable Chuck Schumer voted to build a fence on the border to keep illegals out.  Not so very long ago, Democrats at least paid lip service to fiscal responsibility.  And Democrats always, always supported the police.  What happened?  Donald Trump happened.  After Il Duce Obama, they were confident they’d have more time to “fundamentally transform” the country, but Trump intruded.  More than that, he showed up both Parties by actually getting done things they only talked about.  This produced the mental condition among Democrats, and some so-called Republicans, known as Trump Derangement Syndrome.  And, in the throes of their delusions of rectitude (the certainty that they’re always right), Democrats, much like Dr. Jekyll, were desperate for a cure.  Democrats are simple creatures, you see.  Because they see themselves as pure goodness, Trump represented to them pure evil.  Democrats saw the 2020 election as a way to purify the country from the evil of Trump.  Blinded by their psychoses, they concluded that whatever they did to achieve their goal was valid, no matter how deceptive, false, illegal or contradictory it might be.  That’s why they could falsely claim that Trump colluded with Russia, and then be unconcerned when they elected a president whose first official act was to collude with a Russian pipeline company.  It’s why they think they have a right to ignore, unilaterally amend, or destroy the Constitution in order to “save our democracy.” It’s also why they convinced themselves that anything Trump was in favor of was evil, thus compelling them to do the opposite, even if it doesn’t make any sense.  If Democrats were in analysis, these things would make for a great case study.  But sadly, these nuts are running the country – into the ground.  Forget about Party labels for a moment, and consider simple rationality.  Democrats didn’t like Trump’s border wall – fine, but is throwing the border wide open the act of a rational mind?  Democrats blasted Trump’s detention of illegal aliens as a violation of human rights, but hail Biden’s detentions as “humanitarian.”  The ACLU doesn’t think so, they’re suing Biden.  You decide –

Democrat Wokesters oppose fossil fuels, and favor electric cars and “renewable” energy – fine.  Of course, they haven’t figured out yet that, when they plug in their electric Prius, the power needs to come from a source other than windmills or pond scum.  I get it, but does a rational mind close U.S. pipelines, shut down U.S. oil and gas production, destroy U.S. jobs, and then support construction of a Russian pipeline?  Does a rational mind complain about rising gas prices, and then beg OPEC to produce more oil that we have to buy, rather than to have us produce our own oil and gas we can sell?  What about economics?  Right now, there are more than 10 million job openings in the U.S., more than ever before.  Once upon a time, even Democrats considered that a good thing.  They even bragged, usually falsely, about “creating” millions of jobs.  In the wake of the Wuhan shutdowns, any rational person would be celebrating a booming economy.  Democrats aren’t.  Instead, faced with a near $30 trillion debt, spiraling inflation, and a labor market in which employers are begging for help, they want to continue paying people not to work, and they want to add another $6 trillion to the debt.  Are these the policies  of rational minds?  Yet, worse than all of the foregoing, the Democrat mania extends even to public health policy.  It began last year.  Any treatment supported by Trump was no good.  Thousands died because available Wuhan treatments were declared politically incorrect.  When Trump touted vaccines, Democrats scoffed.  Now in charge, Democrats want to mandate vaccinations.  They perceive no contradiction in these positions.  Which brings us to Dr. Anthony Fauci, or as I like to call him, Dr. Fascist.  Fauci is a lifelong public health advocate.  He’s the guy, recall, who told us the Wuhan was no threat to the U.S., and not to wear masks.  Now, faced with the Delta variant, Dr. Fascist has branched out from medicine into politics, for our own good, of course.  He said this week, “I’m sorry I know people must like to have their individual freedom and not be told to do something, but I think that we’re in such a serious situation now, that under certain circumstances, mandates should be done.”  He’s talking about vaccines and masks.  Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt.  Sure, Fauci may be blind to law and reality, but assume that his motives are pure, and that he’s acting for the public good.  I’ll give him that.  Unfortunately however, like Dr. Jekyll, Dr. Fauci is opposed by his own Mr. Hyde, in the guise of Corrupt Demented Imbecile Joe Biden, because the evil Mr. Biden’s every move is calculated to undo whatever good might be done by the mild-mannered doctor.  Dr. Fascist has concluded that Thomas Jefferson was wrong.  Our freedoms weren’t “endowed by the Creator,” they come instead from him.  The Good Doctor would cancel our individual freedoms, for health’s sake.  Only, Dr. Fascist’s alter-ego, the evil Mr. Biden, isn’t cooperating.  He’s touting masks and restrictions for U.S. citizens, and strangling schools and businesses, while at the same time admitting hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens, 40% of whom are infected with the Wuhan, and shipping them all over America to infect others.  It’s clear that Democrat irrationality stems from drinking the anti-Trump potion, which they thought would remove all evil.  But like Dr. Jekyll, they can’t control the unconscionable acts of their Mr. Hyde, who daily must stoke the delusions of the Woke.  In July, 212,000 illegals were caught entering the U.S.  80,000 or more are infected with Wuhan.  One need look no further to understand why virus cases are up.  Dr. Jekyll never found the antidote and was destroyed.  If he could remember anything, Mr. Biden would do well to remember that.
