The Mayan civilization dominated much of southern Mexico and Central America for over 3,000 years before too close contact with the Spanish Conquistadors led to their disappearance in the 17th Century. In present-day America, where shovel-ready jobs are hard to find, there may be work for any Mayans that might be left. Specifically, I speak of Baltimore. You see, the Mayan religion viewed blood as a powerful offering to the gods, so they engaged in human sacrifice. What’s this have to do with Baltimore? Well, the Left practices an odd religion which worships both a powerful central Government (if controlled by Democrats) and individual license to the point of the breakdown of social order. The simultaneous worship of both iron-fisted control and anarchy is schizophrenic you say? Don’t blame me. I’m not a psychiatrist and cannot explain how extreme Leftists can believe anything they believe. This Leftist religious fervor was on full display this week in the streets of Baltimore. A man died in police custody under suspicious circumstances. Does that warrant a thorough investigation. You bet. Does it justify government encouraged destruction of property, looting, arson and aggravated assault on numerous police officers? If you ask me, no, but I do not pretend to understand what the Mayor of Baltimore was thinking. Left wing religious fervor is powerful. How else can you explain a mob that simultaneously demands justice while committing multiple felonies? That’s where the Mayans come in. You see, today, Baltimore announced it was indicting police officers for murder. Could the cops be wrong? Sure. A man dies in the back of a van with another prisoner. Could some charge be based on negligence or recklessness? Sure. But murder? How they hope to prove an intent to kill the man is yet to be determined. And sadly, I don’t think it matters to the Left. The mob screamed for blood and a sacrifice was necessary to appease them. And it’s not just an unthinking mob that feels appeasement is warranted. Just before I started writing this, I heard Geraldo Rivera, who is supposed to be a lawyer, say “it’s a small inconvenience for the cops, but it was necessary to prevent more violence in Baltimore tonight.” I hope he remains so tolerant when they come for him. So, any Mayan high priests out there, there’s an opening for someone with human sacrifice experience in Baltimore. No need to bring your own knife, you can get one from any of the people marching by.
