FRANK ON FRIDAY – The Last Refuge

The saying, “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel” is attributed to  Samuel Johnson.  Johnson didn’t mean to vilify those who expressed actual love of country.   He was criticizing the pretended use of patriotism by unscrupulous politicians.  George Washington understood this, “Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism.” Mark Twain was more blunt, “Patriotism is supporting your country all of the time and your government when it deserves it.”  In other words, true love of country must be separated from the ravings of politicians who threaten that, “unless you do what I say, you’re unpatriotic.”  Sound familiar?  Corrupt Demented Imbecile Joe Biden is just the latest scoundrel to use pretended patriotism as a shield for his incompetence.  Biden’s most recent resort to patriotism concerned vaccine mandates.  Asked about court rulings striking down mandates, Biden mumbled,  “This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated.   Not the vaccinated, the unvaccinated.  That’s the problem. Everybody talks about freedom about not to have a shot or have a test.  Well guess what?  How about patriotism?  How about you make sure you’re vaccinated, so you do not spread the disease to anyone else.”  “What about that?” Biden added. “What’s the big deal?”  Much as I hate to disagree with Mumbly Joe, the big deal is the ease with which he is willing to cancel the freedoms that he was elected to protect.  This wasn’t the first time Biden told us the protection of freedom is not his priority.  Biden refuses to say a bad word about Xi Jinping.  “I’m not going to speak out against what he’s doing in Hong Kong, what he’s doing with the Uyghurs in the Western mountains of China.”  If China’s detaining, torturing, and enslaving millions, and has murdered about one million Uyghurs, what’s the big deal, right?  Biden minimized these atrocities, ascribing them to “different norms.”  “Culturally, there are different norms of each country and the leaders are expected to follow.”  So sayeth the Big Guy, the alleged leader of the free world.  Where did Biden get the idea that freedom “is no big deal?”  One very real possibility is that Biden’s being blackmailed by the Chinese.  Noted contemporary artist and crackhead Hunter Biden was involved in a  number of shady business deals in China, involving billions of dollars from people connected to Chinese intelligence.  According to Hunter’s own emails, the Biden family was paid some $31 million, and a 2.8 carat diamond.  One of the Chinese partners was Che Feng, who paid Biden $20 million.  Che Feng, known as “the super chairman,” is vice-minister for State Security.  He runs Bureau No. 8, specializing in the compromise of foreigners.  Che sure landed a big one.  Another Hunter partner, Patrick Ho, was arrested by the FBI, and is in prison.  Is Hunter simply a bad judge of character?  No.  When he went to China, he left his Secret Service details at home.  No witnesses.  Another explanation for Old Joe’s distaste for freedom is that he’s just following the science.  You know, the science – Dr. Anthony Fauci.  Fauci has no use for your freedom either.  He said that, if you think the government response to the Wuhan virus was mishandled, blame President Trump.  “We put together a good plan for how we were going to try to dampen down the spread of infection early on, thinking that was accepted by everyone, then the next day the President is saying ‘Free Michigan, Free Virginia’.  I didn’t quite understand what the purpose of that was except to put this misplaced perception about peoples individual rights that supersedes societal safety. That to me is one of the things that went awry in all of this.”  No Tony, what went awry was that we permitted a fascist runt like you to go on TV and tell us when we can and cannot go to work, go to school, go to church, and see our loved ones.  The truth is that Joe Biden, and the rest of that ageing, moldering, wild-eyed, side-show known as the Democrat Party have decided that they really have no use for personal freedom.  Never forget, whenever a politician uses the word “societal,” you’re about to get screwed.  Biden and his henchmen want to cancel your freedoms.  As we saw last week, it was Mumbly Joe who prompted Justin Trudeau to crack down on the truckers.  And Biden is worse than Trudeau because he’s been crooked much longer.  If you think Trudeau got away with his atrocities only because Canada lacks our Bill of Rights, think again.  U.S. truckers are said to be planning a truck protest for Washington, D.C.  Nothing has happened yet, but the Secretary of Defense has already called up 700 National Guardsmen to protect D.C.  Here in New Jersey, the State Police are getting heavy-duty tow trucks ready to remove protestor’s trucks.  Another Biden incursion on your personal freedom is his National Roadway Safety Strategy; part of the so-called “infrastructure” bill.  The goal of the plan is to reduce traffic fatalities- to zero.  Finally, government mandated immortality.  Transportation Secretary Buttigieg has a 42 point plan.  As former French Premier Clemenceau said of Woodrow Wilson’s 14 Points, “God Almighty had only 10.”  But Pothole Pete has a cunning plan that cannot fail.  The Feds will work with States to build and maintain safer roads by updating to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and providing technical assistance to communities of all sizes on speed limits.  Permit me to translate.  This means by requiring States to install speed and red light cameras, and by dictating the speed limit on every road, or else the State gets no federal highway money.  If you think this is farfetched, think again.  The 1970’s national 55 MPH speed limit was forced through the same way.  And Pete’s got $14 billion of your money to do it.  The government has offered two justifications for this freedom grab, both of them bogus.  First, they say road fatalities were up 7% from 2019 to 2020.  While mathematically correct, this does not represent a trend.  More likely, lack of traffic on the roads during the pandemic, coupled with a decreased police presence, provided reckless speed maniacs more opportunities to kill themselves.  In fact, since 1972, road deaths are down nearly by 18,000 annually, and deaths per 100,000 population are down 44%.  This isn’t about safety, it’s about control.  So take a page from Mark Twain.  Support your county all the time.  If the government ever deserves support – well, I’ll get back to you.
